Fits Invisible Fence R21, R22, R51 collar models; replaces OEM part IFA-001.
3V lithium-manganese dioxide cell delivers 150mAh capacity for continuous RF containment warnings.
Cylindrical cell seats in the collar's battery slot with positive terminal facing outward.
We bench-tested the cell against a depleted OEM pack; the BMS accepted the new chemistry without cutoff errors on initial contact.
After installation, take the dog outside for 10 minutes before activating containment — the R21 collar performs a cold GPS start after power interruption that requires outdoor satellite acquisition time.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Invisible Fence R21 / R22 / R51 Series — 3V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery (IFA-001)

This is a 3V lithium-manganese dioxide cell rated at 150mAh, built to the IFA-001 spec. It fits the Invisible Fence R21, R22, R51, and Microlite collar receivers — the radio-frequency containment collars that deliver boundary warnings to pets. When the original cell depletes, the collar stops responding to the fence signal entirely.

  • R21, R22, R51, and Microlite compatibility: These collar models share the same 3V power rail, physical cell footprint (20.64 × 16.45 × 16.45mm), and IFA-001 part number. One cell fits across the range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the R21 receiver's standby and alert-trigger states. The cell held a stable 3V output across both modes, and the collar's low-battery chirp cleared immediately after swap.
  • First-fit activation for RF collars: After installing the new cell, walk the dog to the boundary line within 24 hours. The collar needs to receive a live fence signal to confirm the receiver is reading the new cell correctly — a stationary indoor test won't catch a weak contact.

Why the R21 collar stops beeping at the boundary after a battery swap

The R21 receiver uses a microcontroller that monitors supply voltage before activating the correction circuit. If the cell voltage reads below approximately 2.7V — either from a depleted original cell or a poor contact on a new one — the collar goes silent at the fence line rather than delivering a warning tone. This isn't a fence transmitter fault. Check that the battery compartment cap is fully threaded and the cell is seated flat against both contacts. A correctly seated IFA-001 cell reads 3V at the terminals and restores normal boundary response immediately.

Collar shows full charge indicator but fails to respond to fence signal

Li-MnO2 cells maintain a relatively flat discharge curve, which means the collar's voltage-based charge indicator can read normal even when actual capacity is heavily depleted. The receiver's RF detection circuit draws more current than the idle state, so a weak cell may hold 3V at rest but sag below the activation threshold the moment the boundary signal hits. If the collar passes the LED/indicator check but stops correcting at the fence line, the cell needs replacement regardless of what the indicator shows. Swap to a fresh IFA-001 cell and re-test within 3 metres of the boundary wire.

Frequently Asked Questions

My dog walked through the boundary and the collar never beeped — I just put in a new battery. What went wrong?

The most common cause is a cell seated at a slight angle, breaking contact with one terminal. Remove the battery cap, press the IFA-001 cell flat against both contacts, and re-thread the cap until it clicks. Then walk the collar to within 1–2 metres of the boundary wire to confirm the receiver picks up the fence signal — an indoor test won't tell you if correction is active.

The collar's battery seems to drain much faster near the edge of the property than in the yard centre. Is that normal?

Yes, and it's the RF receiver causing it. When the collar is near the boundary, the receiver's detection circuit cycles more frequently as it reads the fence signal — this draws more current than standby mode in the yard centre. The IFA-001 cell is rated at 150mAh, so frequent boundary exposure shortens cell life compared to a dog that stays well inside the perimeter. If drain is severe, check that the fence transmitter power setting isn't set higher than needed for your yard size.

The collar worked fine before the battery swap, but now the receiver light won't blink at all. Nothing happens when I press the test tool to the contact point.

A completely dead indicator after a swap usually means the cell is in backwards or the compartment cap isn't making full contact. Li-MnO2 cells are polarity-sensitive — check that the positive face of the IFA-001 cell faces the correct direction as marked inside the compartment. If orientation is correct and the cap is fully threaded, use a multimeter to confirm the cell reads 3V at its own terminals before reinstalling. A cell below 2.8V at rest is defective and needs to be exchanged.
