PetSafe 250m PDT20-12471 / SRT-100 Series — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 7.2V, 150mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the PetSafe PDT20-12471, PDT20-10646, PDT00-11234, and SRT-100 dog training collars. It restores power to the collar's electronic training and boundary containment functions. Voltage and physical dimensions match the original cell exactly at 35.80 x 26.00 x 15.50mm.

• PDT and SRT collar compatibility: The PDT20-12471, PDT20-10646, PDT00-11234, and SRT-100 all share the same battery bay dimensions, voltage rail, and connector orientation. One cell fits all four.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the SRT-100 platform. The collar's BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the receiver circuit powered on cleanly at full charge voltage.
• First-use cold start after installation: After fitting the new battery, take the collar outside and allow the system to run for 5–10 minutes before expecting normal function. The collar performs a full electronics re-initialisation after power interruption — this is normal and not a fault with the replacement cell.

Why the PDT20-12471 collar drains faster during boundary containment use

The PDT20-12471 uses a continuous radio receiver circuit to monitor the boundary signal. When the collar is at the perimeter edge, the receiver polls more frequently, increasing current draw on the 150mAh cell. Cold weather compounds this — Ni-MH cells lose usable capacity below 10°C, so winter outdoor sessions will always show shorter charge cycles. Keeping the collar stored at room temperature between sessions preserves more of the cell's rated capacity.

Collar shows solid charge indicator but receiver won't activate

A solid charge light after install confirms voltage is present, but does not mean the collar electronics have fully re-initialised. The training receiver circuit requires a brief power-on sequence that can take 30–60 seconds after the battery is seated. If the collar still won't respond to the transmitter after that window, remove and reseat the battery to force a hard reset, then confirm transmitter frequency is set to match. Test receiver response at close range — within 1 metre — before concluding there is a fault.
