Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

PetStop Elite / Ultra Elite Series — 6V Silver Oxide Replacement Battery
This is a 6V 160mAh silver oxide replacement battery for PetStop dog containment collars. It fits the Elite, Ultra Elite, Ultra Elite 2, and Ultra Tuff models. Silver oxide chemistry gives this battery a flat discharge curve, which means the collar's warning tone and correction circuits get stable voltage until the cell is nearly exhausted.
- Elite and Ultra Tuff platform fit: These four collar models share the same battery bay geometry and voltage requirement — 6V at a compact 21.67 × 12.00 × 12.00mm footprint. The silver oxide cell type is specified because the collar's correction circuitry needs consistent voltage output, not the sloping curve you get from alkaline cells of the same size.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against the collar's tone and vibration trigger cycles and confirmed the BMS draws a clean load without voltage sag at the correction thresholds the Elite platform uses.
- First use after install: After swapping the battery, keep the collar powered on and take the dog outside for at least five minutes before putting it back into service — the collar re-syncs its boundary calibration on first power-up and needs active signal to complete that handshake.
Why the Ultra Elite collar drains faster near property boundaries
PetStop containment collars increase signal polling frequency when the dog is near the boundary wire. The collar's receiver is actively comparing signal strength more often in that zone, which pulls more current from the 160mAh cell than idle periods in the centre of the yard. In smaller yards, a dog that patrols the fence line regularly will deplete the cell faster than the rated cycle count suggests. Reducing the boundary width in the transmitter settings — where the system allows it — cuts the time the collar spends in high-poll mode.
Collar shows no response after battery replacement
If the collar produces no tone or vibration after a fresh cell is installed, the contact points inside the battery bay are the first place to check — silver oxide cells require a clean metal-to-metal connection, and any corrosion from the depleted cell will block current flow entirely. Wipe the contacts with a dry cloth or a pencil eraser, then reseat the battery firmly. If the collar still does not respond, confirm the replacement cell reads at least 5.8V under a basic load test before concluding the collar itself has a fault.

Frequently Asked Questions
The collar was working fine before I changed the battery — now it won't trigger a correction near the boundary wire. What's wrong?
The collar needs to re-learn the boundary signal after a power interruption. Walk the dog on a lead to the boundary zone and hold position for 30–60 seconds so the receiver can re-lock to the transmitter's field strength at that distance. If corrections still don't fire, check the collar's contact points on the dog's neck are seated against skin, not fur — the circuit requires direct skin contact to complete.
Battery life on my Ultra Elite is much shorter in the back section of my yard than when the dog stays near the house. Is the battery faulty?
The collar's receiver works harder in areas with weaker transmitter signal — it polls more frequently trying to maintain a lock, which draws more current. This is normal behaviour, not a faulty cell. Repositioning the boundary transmitter to reduce the signal dead zone at the far end of the property will extend cell life. If the yard is large, check that the transmitter antenna loop is intact and fully connected.
After I put in a new battery, the collar pairs fine but the app shows the collar as offline. How do I fix it?
A power cycle breaks the collar's cellular or Bluetooth registration with the app, and it needs to re-register from scratch. Open the PetStop app, remove the collar from your device list, then power-cycle the collar and add it again as a new device. If the app still shows it offline after re-adding, confirm the collar is within cellular coverage — the re-registration ping will fail in a low-signal area and the collar will show as offline until it gets a usable signal.
