SportDog Contain / Train Receiver — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (SAC00-16365)

This 3.7V, 950mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the SAC00-16365 cell in the SportDog Contain and Train Receiver collar systems. It fits the containment fence receiver, Train Receiver, and Bird Launcher Receiver. Dimensions are 50.50 × 30.00 × 6.00mm — measure your existing cell before ordering if you are unsure.

  • Contain, Train, and Bird Launcher Receiver fit: These receivers share the same battery footprint, voltage rail, and connector spec. One cell covers all three platforms without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the BMS on a Contain receiver. The protection circuit handled charge cutoff cleanly at full capacity, and discharge cutoff triggered correctly before cell damage voltage.
  • First outdoor power-up after install: After fitting a new cell, place the collar on the dog and take them outside immediately. The receiver runs a cold-start initialisation after any power interruption — this takes longer than a warm restart. Keep the collar powered and outdoors for the first use cycle.

Why the Contain collar stops triggering stimulation near the boundary wire

The receiver needs a stable voltage to detect the boundary signal and execute stimulation. As the Li-Polymer cell ages, voltage sag under load drops the receiver below its operating threshold before the battery reads as empty. The collar appears on and charged but fails to respond at the fence perimeter. Replacing the cell restores the voltage headroom the signal detection circuit needs.

Collar not syncing to the SportDog app after battery replacement

A full power interruption during battery swap clears the collar's active Bluetooth and cellular session state. The app retains the old session and waits for a device that is now re-registering from scratch. Open the SportDog app, navigate to device settings, and remove the collar from your account. Re-pair it as a new device — the collar needs to complete fresh registration before the app will accept status updates.

My Contain receiver collar is sitting right at the boundary wire but it's not giving any correction — battery shows charged, what's wrong?

A Li-Polymer cell that reads as charged can still sag below the operating voltage the signal detection circuit needs the moment the receiver draws current. The collar powers on fine at rest but drops out when it tries to act. Fit a new SAC00-16365 cell and retest at the boundary — the correction should trigger consistently once the voltage headroom is restored.

The replacement battery is draining much faster than the original — is something wrong with the cell?

In most cases, the drain rate is normal for the environment, not a faulty cell. When the collar is in an area with weak signal, the receiver works harder and draws more current than it would in a strong-signal zone. Check whether the collar is near the edge of its operating range or in a location with interference from buried utilities near the fence wire — repositioning the boundary wire transmitter can reduce the load on the receiver.

The SportDog app stopped showing the collar's status after I swapped the battery — it just shows the device as offline.

A battery swap cuts power completely, which ends the collar's registered session with the app. The app holds the old session open and will not automatically reconnect to the newly re-initialised collar. In the app, delete the collar from your device list, then add it again as if it were new. Once re-paired, status updates should resume within a minute of the collar powering on.
