This 3.7V 160mAh Li-Polymer battery is the direct replacement for the SportDog SBC-R bark collar. It fits the compact housing of the SBC-R correction module and restores full bark-detection function. Voltage and cell format match the original SAC54-16091 specification exactly.
- SBC-R bark correction circuit: The SBC-R runs its vibration sensor, microcontroller, and correction delivery circuit from a single 3.7V Li-Polymer cell. The flat 34 × 19.80 × 3.20mm form factor is specific to this collar housing — thicker cells will not seat correctly or close the casing.

Why the SBC-R stops triggering corrections before the battery reads empty
The SBC-R correction circuit requires a stable voltage above approximately 3.5V to fire reliably. As a Li-Polymer cell ages, its internal resistance rises, causing voltage to sag under the momentary current spike of each correction pulse. The collar's bark sensor still detects sound, but the correction output falls below threshold and the dog receives no feedback. Swapping the cell restores the voltage headroom the circuit needs to complete each trigger cycle.
Collar shows solid charge indicator but resets to zero correction count each session
A worn cell can hold a surface charge that satisfies the charge-indicator LED while delivering almost no usable capacity under load. The microcontroller loses power during the first active correction burst, resets its session counter, and the cycle repeats. This is not a firmware issue — it is voltage collapse under the correction load. Confirm by measuring the cell under a small load; a healthy cell holds above 3.6V, a failing one will drop below 3.4V immediately.

The correction circuit needs a sustained voltage above 3.5V to complete each trigger pulse. If the replacement cell was stored for a long time before installation, it may have self-discharged below the level needed to wake the BMS. Place the collar on charge for a full cycle, then retest — a healthy cell will read between 4.1V and 4.2V off the charger before any corrections are fired.
The bark collar's LED blinks the low-battery pattern within hours of a full charge — is the new cell faulty?
A rapid return to the low-battery blink pattern usually means the cell's capacity has been compromised by a deep discharge before installation. Li-Polymer cells that sit fully depleted for weeks can suffer partial capacity loss that the charge cycle cannot recover. Check the resting voltage after a full charge — it should stabilise at or above 4.1V. If it reads below 3.9V within minutes of removing from charge with no load, the cell has not recovered and needs replacing.
The SBC-R correction mode button doesn't respond at all after I swapped the battery — did I damage something?
This is almost always the firmware sleep state, not physical damage. The SBC-R microcontroller does not auto-boot when power is restored after a full discharge. Press and hold the mode button for three full seconds — the status LED should flash to confirm the controller has initialised. If there is still no response, confirm the cell connector is fully seated and the cell voltage reads at least 3.5V under a brief button-press load.
