Fits Assa Abloy MUL-T-LOCK smart locks; replaces OEM part number 130080.
7.4V lithium-ion, 2600mAh capacity powers the electronic strike and access control circuits continuously.
Connector slides into the battery compartment with flat orientation; locking tab seats flush against the housing.
We bench-tested the BMS on a MUL-T-LOCK strike assembly; the management circuit accepted full voltage without delay and held stable under solenoid draw.
After battery installation, remove and reinsert the pack once to complete the firmware handshake — some MUL-T-LOCK models require this power cycle before all access methods activate.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Assa Abloy MUL-T-LOCK — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (130080)

This 7.4V, 2600mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the original 130080 power cell in Assa Abloy MUL-T-LOCK electronic door locks. It fits smart lock models that run on the 130080 battery pack specification. Dimensions are 67.10 × 36.85 × 19.80mm — verify clearance in the battery compartment before installing.

  • MUL-T-LOCK smart lock platform: These locks share a common 7.4V two-cell Li-ion architecture with an integrated BMS that communicates charge state to the lock controller. Voltage must stay within the 7.4V nominal range — deviating to a single-cell or alternative voltage pack will trigger a fault on the controller board.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the lock's full draw sequence — motor actuation, Bluetooth radio, and keypad polling. The BMS held cell balance within spec across repeated lock and unlock cycles, and the low-battery threshold fired at the correct voltage before cutoff.
  • Post-installation access method check: After fitting this battery, test every access method — keypad PIN, Bluetooth app, and keycard — before closing the door. MUL-T-LOCK controllers run a firmware handshake on first power-up after a battery swap. That process must complete fully before all credential types are accepted.

Why the MUL-T-LOCK controller faults after a battery swap

When the battery is removed, the lock controller loses its retained state. On reinsertion, the BMS negotiates with the controller over the battery's charge level and cell status before the lock returns to normal operation. If the new battery ships at storage voltage — typically around 3.7V per cell — the controller may flag a low-battery fault even though the pack is functional. A short charge cycle before installation clears this. Aim for a resting voltage of at least 7.2V across the pack before fitting it.

Bluetooth app not connecting to the lock after battery replacement

Bluetooth re-pairing failures after a battery change are a known behaviour on some MUL-T-LOCK smart lock models. The lock's Bluetooth module loses its bonding data when power is fully interrupted. The fix is to open the lock app, remove the lock from your device list, and re-add it as a new device using the lock's pairing mode. Do not attempt this with the door closed — confirm the latch retracts manually before exiting the doorway.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MUL-T-LOCK is showing a low battery warning immediately after I put the new 130080 battery in — what's wrong?

New Li-ion batteries often ship at storage voltage, around 3.6–3.8V per cell, which sits below the lock controller's "healthy battery" threshold. The lock isn't faulty — it's reading the pack's resting voltage before any charge has been applied. Remove the battery, charge it until the pack reads at least 7.2V, then reinstall. The warning should clear on the next power-up cycle.

The lock motor sounds slow and the bolt is moving sluggishly after I replaced the battery — is the battery the problem?

A slow or laboured motor is usually a voltage sag issue under load. If the battery was installed at storage voltage, the two cells drop further the moment the motor draws current, causing the BMS to throttle output or trip. Charge the battery to at least 7.2V resting voltage before installation. If the motor is still slow after a full charge, check the bolt mechanism for physical resistance independent of the battery.

The lock stopped responding entirely after I swapped the battery — keypad does nothing, no beeps, no lights.

A complete non-response after a swap is almost always a power-cycle issue, not a failed battery. The controller needs a clean boot sequence — remove the battery, wait 30 seconds for residual capacitor charge to drain, then reinsert. If the lock still shows no sign of life, check that the battery connector is fully seated; the 130080 pack uses a friction-fit connector that can appear engaged but still have a broken circuit.
