Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

DOTLUX FLASHwall / FLASHground — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (4967)
This is a 7.4V 1500mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the DOTLUX FLASHwall and FLASHground emergency lighting units. It powers the backup illumination circuit during mains failure, keeping egress lighting active when the grid drops. Capacity is 1500mAh (11.1Wh), matching the original cell specification for Part No 4967.
- FLASHwall and FLASHground compatibility: Both fittings use the same 7.4V two-cell Li-ion pack with the same physical footprint (52 × 36.70 × 20mm) and connector orientation. The charge controller in each unit operates on the same float voltage, so one cell works across both models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a simulated mains-fail event and monitored BMS behaviour at full load. The protection circuit held discharge cutoff at approximately 6.0V and recovered cleanly once charging resumed — no latching fault state triggered.
- First-cycle commissioning on emergency fittings: Within 24 hours of installation, hold the test button for the full rated duration. This confirms the cell accepts load and lets the charge controller register the new pack before your next scheduled compliance test — skipping this step can cause a false fail on duration testing.
Emergency light failing its duration test after battery replacement
A freshly installed Li-ion cell often ships at a partial state of charge — typically 40–60% — due to storage protocols that protect cell chemistry during transit. When the fitting runs a duration test before the cell has completed a full charge cycle, it depletes faster than rated capacity allows. The charge controller needs at least one complete charge-to-discharge cycle to recalibrate its capacity register. Allow 24 hours of mains-connected charging before running any compliance duration test on a new cell.
Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation
The FLASHwall charge controller uses a float acceptance window — typically 7.2V to 8.4V — to confirm the pack is viable before switching to charge mode. A cell that has sat in storage for several months may present a resting voltage below this window, causing the controller to flag a fault rather than begin charging. Leave the fitting connected to mains for two to four hours; most controllers will retry the charge cycle automatically once the cell voltage recovers past the acceptance threshold. If the red LED persists beyond four hours, measure cell voltage directly — a reading below 6.0V indicates a deeply discharged cell that the controller will not recover.

Frequently Asked Questions
My DOTLUX FLASHwall light dims and then cuts out partway through a test — is the new battery faulty?
Not necessarily faulty — this is a first-activation capacity issue. A cell shipped at partial charge will exhaust its available energy before the rated duration is reached, causing the fitting to dim and cut off early. Reconnect to mains, allow a full 24-hour charge, then rerun the test. A cell that still cuts out early after a full charge cycle should be checked for a resting voltage below 7.0V, which would indicate a damaged cell.
The FLASHwall fitting still shows a fault LED after I've confirmed the new battery is seated correctly — what's wrong?
Some DOTLUX fittings latch a fault state in firmware and do not clear it automatically when the battery is replaced. The fault LED stays on even after the cause is resolved. Hold the test button for three seconds to trigger a manual reset cycle — on most FLASHwall units this clears the latched fault and forces the controller to re-evaluate the pack. If the fault LED returns within a few minutes, check that the connector is fully engaged and that cell voltage reads above 7.2V at rest.
The replacement battery feels warm and looks slightly swollen after a few weeks in the fitting — what caused this?
Swelling is overcharge damage, not a cell defect. It happens when a fitting's charge controller applies continuous trickle current at an elevated ambient temperature over an extended period — common in enclosed ceiling or wall fittings near heat sources. Check the fitting's installation environment: the FLASHwall is rated for a maximum ambient of 35°C, and exceeding this accelerates electrolyte breakdown and gas generation inside the cell. Remove the swollen cell immediately — a swollen Li-ion cell is a fire risk — and verify the fitting's charge termination circuit before installing a replacement.
