Fits Dual-Lite EVCH12 emergency lighting units; replaces OEM part 784H71.
12.8V LiFePO4 chemistry with 2000mAh capacity delivers stable discharge curve for exit sign illumination during mains failure.
Connector seats into the EVCH12 battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab secures pack against vibration.
We bench tested this cell in a Dual-Lite charge controller at 25°C; BMS accepted float voltage within 4 hours of first insertion.
After installation, hold the EVCH12 test button for the full rated duration within 24 hours; this allows the charge circuit to register new cell capacity before compliance testing.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dual-Lite EVCH12 — 12.8V LiFePO4 Replacement Battery (784H71)

This is a 12.8V, 2000mAh LiFePO4 replacement battery for the Dual-Lite EVCH12 emergency lighting unit. It fits the EVCH12 fitting directly and restores backup illumination during mains failure. Capacity and voltage match the OEM cell: 12.8V, 2000mAh (25.6Wh).

  • EVCH12 fitment: The EVCH12 uses a 12.8V LiFePO4 chemistry cell — not a lead-acid or NiCd pack. Swapping to a different chemistry or voltage will cause the charge controller to misread state-of-charge and trip fault flags on the fitting.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full discharge-recharge sequence on the EVCH12 charge board. The BMS accepted the cell without fault, float voltage settled at 13.6V, and the charge indicator moved to green within the expected window.
  • First test cycle after installation: Within 24 hours of fitting, hold the test button for the full rated duration. This lets the charge controller register the new cell's capacity before the next scheduled compliance test — skipping it risks a failed duration result on the first inspection.

Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation

LiFePO4 cells shipped from storage often rest below the EVCH12 charge controller's float acceptance window. When the controller sees a cell voltage below roughly 12.0V, it flags a fault instead of entering normal charge mode. Leave the fitting on mains power for four to six hours — most units will self-recover once the cell climbs past the acceptance threshold. If the indicator remains red after six hours, check the connector seating and verify cell voltage at the terminals is rising above 12.0V.

Emergency light dims partway through a duration test after replacement

A new cell installed without a prior conditioning cycle may not yet deliver its full rated 2000mAh under load. The EVCH12 draws current at a fixed rate during a test, and an unconditioned cell can sag in voltage before the rated duration is complete, causing the lamp to dim or cut. Run one full manual test cycle immediately after installation to condition the cell. After that cycle, the charge controller will have mapped the cell's actual capacity and subsequent tests should hold brightness through the full duration.

Frequently Asked Questions

The EVCH12 failed its duration test right after I put a new battery in — did I get a bad cell?

Almost certainly not. A LiFePO4 cell fresh from storage hasn't been cycled, so it won't deliver its full 2000mAh on first draw. The EVCH12 charge controller needs one complete discharge-recharge cycle to map the cell's actual capacity. Run a full manual test within 24 hours of installation, let the fitting recharge completely, then retest — the duration result should meet spec on the second test.

The charge LED on my EVCH12 fitting won't go green even though the new battery is seated correctly — what's wrong?

Cells stored for any length of time can arrive with a resting voltage below the EVCH12 controller's float acceptance threshold, which causes the controller to hold a fault state rather than begin normal charging. Leave the fitting on mains power for up to six hours and monitor whether the cell voltage at the terminals climbs above 12.0V. Once the cell crosses the acceptance window the controller will exit fault mode and the indicator will switch to green.

My EVCH12 fitting still shows a fault LED even after I've confirmed the new battery is good and the charge indicator has gone green — is the fitting broken?

Some EVCH12 fittings latch the fault LED in hardware and won't self-clear after a battery event, even when the cell and charge state are both normal. A manual reset is required: isolate mains power to the fitting, wait 30 seconds, then restore power. This forces the controller to re-initialise and re-read cell status from scratch. If the fault LED returns immediately after power-on with a confirmed good cell voltage above 12.8V, inspect the fitting's charge board for corrosion at the battery connector terminals.
