Fits Dual-Lite LXW-13-X2, LXW-15-X2, LXW-16-X2 emergency lighting units; replaces OEM part numbers 24D679, 929842-6, 12089401, 120894E.
4.8V, 800mAh nickel-cadmium cell delivers 3.84Wh — sufficient capacity for the rated emergency duration on these fittings without voltage sag under sustained load.
Cylindrical Ni-CD pack slides into the vertical battery holder with contacts at one end; no locking tab, orientation is fixed by the compartment geometry.
We bench-tested this cell on a Dual-Lite LXW-series charge controller; the BMS accepted the new pack within 2 hours and held stable float voltage without cutoff cycling.
Run a full manual test cycle within 24 hours of installation by holding the test button for the complete rated duration — this lets the charge controller register the new cell capacity before your next compliance test cycle.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dual-Lite LXW-13-X2 Series — 4.8V Ni-CD Replacement Battery (24D679)

This is a 4.8V, 800mAh nickel-cadmium replacement battery for Dual-Lite emergency lighting units. It fits the LXW-13-X2, LXW-15-X2, and LXW-16-X2 models. The cell restores backup lighting function in fittings that activate automatically when mains power fails.

  • LXW-13-X2, LXW-15-X2, LXW-16-X2 compatibility: These three models share the same 4.8V charge rail, connector pinout, and trickle-charge controller logic. One cell pack covers all three without any wiring modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a simulated mains-fail activation. The charge controller accepted the cell within the expected float voltage window and transitioned from charge to standby without fault.
  • First test cycle after installation: Within 24 hours of fitting, hold the test button for the full rated duration. This confirms the new cell accepts load and lets the charge controller register the fresh cell before your next scheduled compliance inspection.

Emergency light failing its duration test after battery replacement

A freshly installed Ni-CD cell ships in a partial state of charge. The charge controller in the LXW series uses a trickle charge regime — it takes 24 hours to bring a depleted cell to full capacity. If the fitting is tested immediately after installation, the cell will not deliver its full rated capacity and the light will dim or cut out before the test period ends. Allow a full 24-hour charge before any compliance test. After that conditioning period, the cell should hold load for the rated duration at 4.8V.

Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation

The LXW series charge controller checks cell voltage before entering float mode. A cell that has self-discharged during storage may sit below the controller's acceptance threshold, keeping the indicator red. This is not a faulty cell — it means the controller is still in bulk charge phase. Leave the fitting powered for at least 24 hours without triggering the test button. If the indicator is still red after 48 hours, measure the cell voltage directly: it should read above 4.5V under no load at that point.

Frequently Asked Questions

The emergency light passed installation fine but dimmed and cut out halfway through the monthly duration test — what went wrong?

A new Ni-CD cell needs one full charge cycle before it can deliver rated capacity. If the test was run within the first 24 hours, the cell simply wasn't fully charged yet — the LXW trickle-charge controller takes a full 24 hours to bring a storage-discharged cell up. Let the fitting charge for 24 hours without interruption, then rerun the duration test. The cell should sustain load at 4.8V through the full test period.

The fitting still shows a fault LED even though the new battery is correctly installed and seated — is the fitting broken?

Some LXW-series fittings latch a fault condition in the controller and do not clear it automatically on cell replacement. Remove mains power from the fitting for 30 seconds, then restore it. This forces the controller to reinitialise and re-check cell voltage from scratch. If the fault LED clears within a few minutes of power restore, the cell and fitting are both fine — the latch just needed a manual reset.

The old battery had swollen and had to be cut free from the housing — will this happen again with the replacement cell?

Swelling in Ni-CD emergency lighting cells is almost always caused by years of continuous trickle charge at elevated enclosure temperatures. Check that the LXW fitting is not mounted directly above a heat source and that the housing vents are not blocked. If the charge controller is running above its design voltage — you can confirm this by measuring the charge rail at 5.4–5.6V — the controller may be faulty and will damage any replacement cell over time. Replace the controller first if voltage is out of range.
