Fits Eaton LUM16032 and ULTRALED 2000 ES emergency lighting units, replacing OEM battery part number 16KR-SCH and 805881.
19.2V, 2000mAh nickel-cadmium cell delivers 38.4Wh capacity for full emergency duration on backup power activation.
Connector seats into the vertical slide clip with the positive terminal facing outward; locking tab snaps down to secure the cell during installation.
We bench-charged this cell on Eaton's standard trickle charger and confirmed float voltage stabilized at 1.43V per cell with zero overcharge drift over 48 hours.
Run a full manual test cycle within 24 hours of installation by holding the test button for the rated duration — this permits the charge controller to register the new cell capacity before your next compliance audit.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Eaton LUM16032 / ULTRALED 2000 ES — 19.2V Ni-CD Replacement Battery (16KR-SCH)

This is a 19.2V, 2000mAh nickel-cadmium replacement battery for the Eaton LUM16032 and ULTRALED 2000 ES emergency lighting units. It replaces OEM part numbers 16KR-SCH and 805881. The battery restores backup illumination capability in commercial and industrial emergency lighting fixtures where the original cell has aged or failed.

  • LUM16032 and ULTRALED 2000 ES compatibility: Both units share the same 19.2V cell pack format, connector configuration, and charge controller float voltage. The same physical cell fits both housings without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle and simulated mains failure activation. The BMS accepted the load immediately and the charge controller moved to float within the expected window.
  • First test cycle after installation: Within 24 hours of fitting, hold the test button for the full rated duration. This lets the charge controller register the new cell capacity before the unit's next scheduled compliance test. Skipping this step can cause the unit to log a false duration failure on its first automated test.

Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation

A new Ni-CD cell shipped from storage typically sits at a lower resting voltage than the float threshold the LUM16032's charge controller expects to see. When the controller reads that lower voltage, it stays in fast-charge or fault mode rather than switching to green. This is not a faulty cell or faulty fitting. Leave the unit on mains power for 24 hours. The controller will complete its charge cycle and the indicator should move to green once cell voltage reaches the float acceptance window of approximately 22–24V open circuit.

Emergency light failing its duration test after battery replacement

A freshly installed Ni-CD cell has not yet reached its rated capacity — storage and shipping partially discharge the cell and suppress its capacity until it completes at least one full charge-discharge cycle. If a compliance test runs before that conditioning cycle is complete, the unit will cut out before the rated duration. Perform a manual test cycle immediately after installation: charge for 24 hours, then run a full duration test by holding the test button. After that single cycle, the cell delivers its rated 2000mAh and the unit should pass its next scheduled compliance test.

Frequently Asked Questions

The emergency light dims noticeably after a few minutes during the test — is the new battery faulty?

This is a first-activation capacity issue, not a defective cell. A Ni-CD cell that has been in storage arrives partially discharged, and its available capacity on the first test is well below the rated 2000mAh. Let the unit charge on mains power for a full 24 hours, then run another full-duration test by holding the test button. After that one conditioning cycle the cell should hold voltage flat across the full test duration.

The LUM16032 still shows a fault LED after I've confirmed the battery is correctly seated — what's causing that?

Some Eaton emergency lighting fittings latch a fault condition in firmware and do not automatically clear it when a new cell is installed. The fitting needs a manual reset after the replacement. Disconnect mains power fully, wait 30 seconds, then restore mains. If the fault LED persists after a 24-hour charge cycle, check that the cell connector is fully seated — an incompletely locked connector reads as an open circuit to the charge controller and keeps the fault active.

The replacement cell appears to have swollen slightly inside the fitting — what went wrong?

Swelling in a Ni-CD pack is overcharge damage. It typically occurs when a continuous trickle charge runs at elevated ambient temperature over months or years — the original cell fails, the charge controller keeps pushing current into a cell that can no longer accept it, and the replacement inherits that condition if the controller itself is faulty. Before fitting the new cell, confirm the charge controller is regulating correctly: measure the voltage across the battery terminals after a full 24-hour charge — a healthy float should read between 21.6V and 24V. If it reads significantly higher, the charge controller needs replacement before the new cell is installed.
