Fits Lumenxl OTG-HH-1, OTG-FF-6, and OTG-VV-5 emergency lighting units; replaces OEM part number 684315.
3.6V, 800mAh nickel-cadmium cell delivers 2.88Wh to sustain exit sign illumination during mains power loss.
Cylindrical Ni-CD format slides into the battery clip housing with flat contact terminals; no polarity reversible.
We bench-tested this cell in the OTG-HH-1 platform; BMS accepted the pack on first charge without fault codes.
Run a full 90-second manual test cycle within 24 hours of installation by holding the test button — this conditions the new Ni-CD and allows the charge controller to recognize the cell capacity before your next compliance duration test.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lumenxl OTG-HH-1 Series — 3.6V Ni-CD Replacement Battery (684315)

This is a 3.6V, 800mAh nickel-cadmium cell for Lumenxl emergency lighting units. It fits the OTG-HH-1, OTG-FF-6, and OTG-VV-5 fittings — all three share the same voltage rail, cell format, and charge controller interface. Dimensions are 49.30 × 28.30 × 26.70mm.

  • OTG-HH-1, OTG-FF-6, OTG-VV-5 compatibility: These three fittings run the same 3.6V single-cell Ni-CD charge circuit with identical connector orientation and BMS float voltage. One cell part number covers all three.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle on the OTG-HH-1 charge controller. The BMS accepted the cell without fault, reached float charge, and the status LED transitioned from red to green within the expected window.
  • First test cycle after installation: Hold the test button for the full rated duration within 24 hours of fitting the new cell. This confirms the cell accepts load under real conditions and lets the charge controller register the new capacity before your next scheduled compliance inspection.

Emergency light failing its duration test after battery replacement

A freshly installed Ni-CD cell does not arrive at full capacity — storage and shipping leave the cell partially discharged. The charge controller in these fittings applies a trickle float charge, which is slow to top up a depleted cell. If a compliance test runs too soon after installation, the cell has not reached rated capacity and the light will cut out before the test duration ends. Allow at least 24 hours on charge before the first test, then run one full manual cycle to condition the cell.

Charge indicator staying red after new cell installation

The charge controller in OTG-series fittings checks cell voltage before accepting a charge cycle. A cell that has sat in a warehouse may read below the float acceptance threshold — typically under 3.0V — which holds the indicator in fault or charging red. Connect mains power and leave the fitting undisturbed for at least 12 hours. If the LED has not shifted to green by then, measure the cell terminal voltage directly; a healthy cell will read above 3.2V under no-load conditions at that point.

Frequently Asked Questions

My OTG-HH-1 passed every duration test before, but it cut out early on the first test after I put in the new battery — what went wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. A new Ni-CD cell ships partially discharged and needs at least one full charge cycle before it can deliver rated capacity under load. The OTG fitting's trickle charge controller does not fast-charge, so the cell needs a minimum of 24 hours on mains before the first test. Run one full manual test cycle after that 24-hour period and the cell will condition to rated capacity.

The light comes on during a mains-failure test but dims noticeably after a few minutes — the old battery never did this.

This is a shallow charge issue, not a faulty cell. The charge controller registers the fitting as "charged" once the cell hits float voltage, but the actual stored capacity is still low if the cell has only been on charge for a few hours. The cell needs a full conditioning cycle — charge for 24 hours, then run the test button to full duration — before available capacity matches the cell's 800mAh rating. After one complete charge-discharge cycle the dimming will stop.

The fitting's fault LED is still on after I confirmed the new 684315 cell is seated correctly and mains power is present.

Some OTG-series fittings latch a fault LED in hardware and do not auto-clear it when the fault condition is resolved. Isolate mains power to the fitting for 30 seconds, then restore it. This resets the charge controller logic and allows it to re-evaluate the cell voltage from scratch. If the LED clears and then returns within a few hours, measure the cell terminal voltage — it should read above 3.2V; below that points to a charge circuit fault in the fitting itself, not the cell.
