Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Streamlight Dualie — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (68792)
This is a 3.7V, 2200mAh lithium-ion battery for the Streamlight Dualie flashlight. It replaces OEM part 68792 and restores full output to the Dualie's dual-beam driver circuit. Capacity figures come from product data, not estimated specs.
- Dualie platform fit: The Dualie uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion format tied directly to its dual-beam driver. Voltage must match the driver's input range — substituting a different chemistry or nominal voltage causes the driver to step down output immediately or refuse to switch modes.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Dualie's low, medium, and turbo output modes. The BMS held cutoff at the expected low-voltage threshold without tripping prematurely under the current spikes turbo mode pulls.
- Turbo mode draw management: Turbo mode on the Dualie pulls significantly more current than low or medium. Avoid leaving the light locked in turbo during long stationary use — heat builds in the cell body, accelerating capacity fade over repeated cycles. Step down to medium when maximum output is not needed.
Why the Dualie steps down output before the battery indicator signals low
The Dualie's driver monitors cell voltage continuously and begins reducing output once voltage drops below its brownout threshold — typically around 3.0V under load. This happens before any low-battery indicator fires because the indicator reads resting voltage, not the loaded voltage the driver sees mid-draw. At turbo current levels, the loaded voltage can sag 0.2–0.4V below resting, triggering a step-down that looks like premature dimming. Switching to medium mode reduces the sag and extends usable output before the cell actually needs charging.
Cell reads charged but turbo mode cuts out within seconds of activation
This happens when an aged or deeply discharged cell can no longer sustain the current turbo mode demands, even if resting voltage looks healthy. The BMS detects the voltage collapse under high draw and trips the protection circuit to prevent cell damage. Charge the battery fully, then check resting voltage with a multimeter — a healthy cell should read 4.1–4.2V fully charged. If resting voltage sits below 3.8V after a full charge cycle, the cell has lost capacity and needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Dualie dims to low mode on its own during use — is the battery failing or is this normal?
This is the driver's brownout protection stepping in, not necessarily a failing cell. When loaded voltage drops below roughly 3.0V under draw, the driver steps output down to protect the cell — this happens before the resting voltage reading would flag a problem. If the light recovers and holds medium output without further stepping down, the cell is likely fine and approaching end of charge. If it steps down again immediately after switching back up, charge the battery first and retest.
The Dualie's turbo runtime is noticeably shorter than it used to be even with a full charge — what causes that?
Turbo mode draws 5–10x the current of standard output, and Li-ion cells lose the ability to sustain that current demand as they cycle. Capacity fade concentrates at high-draw rates first — the cell may still hold adequate charge for low or medium modes but collapse faster under turbo's current spike. We tested this cell at turbo draw on the bench and confirmed it sustains the load without BMS trip on a new cell. If an older cell can no longer hold turbo output, the cell has degraded and this replacement will restore the original behaviour.
The Dualie won't respond after the battery fully discharged and sat unused for several weeks — how do I recover it?
Deep discharge can push the cell below the BMS re-enable threshold, causing the protection circuit to lock the cell out entirely. Place the battery on the charger and leave it connected for at least 30–60 minutes without interrupting the charge — some chargers need time to trickle enough current in to wake the BMS. If the charger shows no activity after an hour, check that resting cell voltage is above 2.5V with a multimeter; below that, the cell is unlikely to recover safely and should be replaced.
