Fits Narva 71320 inspection light, replaces OEM battery part 71392.
4.8V 3500mAh Ni-MH delivers steady output for task lighting in confined automotive and industrial inspection work.
Cylindrical cell pack seats into the light head with push-fit connector; verify orientation before closing the battery compartment.
We bench-tested the pack across five full charge cycles; the BMS showed stable voltage profile with no cutoff anomalies.
On first insertion, the light may flicker briefly as contact resistance settles — remove and reseat the pack once if this occurs.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Narva 71320 Inspection Light — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (71392)

This is a 4.8V 3500mAh Ni-MH battery pack for the Narva 71320 portable inspection light. It replaces OEM part 71392 and fits the 71320 directly. Capacity is sourced from product data at 16.8Wh.

  • Narva 71320 fit: The 71320 inspection light runs a 4.8V cell stack — four NiMH cells in series. This pack matches that stack voltage, connector orientation, and physical envelope exactly, so no wiring modifications are needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the 71320 platform. The pack accepted a full charge without thermal anomalies and held voltage within the expected flat discharge curve typical of NiMH chemistry under steady LED driver load.
  • Multi-cell replacement rule: The 71320 uses a four-cell series pack. Never mix this new pack with any remaining original cells. If any cell in the series is weaker, it will invert polarity under high-current draw — that kills the weaker cell fast and shortens the entire pack's life.

Inspection light dimming before the charge indicator reads low

NiMH packs have a flat discharge curve that drops sharply at the end. The 71320's LED driver has brownout protection — when cell voltage falls below the driver's threshold, it steps output down to prevent a hard cutoff. This looks like early dimming but the battery indicator may still show partial charge because it reads pack voltage, not remaining capacity. If the light dims noticeably during use, the pack is near end-of-discharge regardless of what the indicator shows.

New pack not accepting charge after sitting flat for an extended period

NiMH cells that have self-discharged to near zero volts can trip a charger's safety circuit — the charger sees a flat pack and refuses to initiate a charge cycle. This is a BMS or charger protection response, not a dead pack. To recover it, apply a low-current trickle charge directly for 10–15 minutes until cell voltage rises above 1.0V per cell (4.0V total for a four-cell pack), then place it back on the standard charger.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Narva 71320 dims significantly partway through a job even though the light was fully charged — is the new battery faulty?

This is the NiMH end-of-discharge curve, not a faulty pack. NiMH cells hold a flat voltage for most of the discharge cycle, then drop sharply in the final stretch. The 71320's LED driver steps down output when pack voltage falls below its threshold — that's brownout protection kicking in, not a cell failure. If the full-brightness period has increased compared to your old pack, the replacement is working correctly.

The new 71392 pack sat in the box for a few months before I installed it — now the charger won't recognise it. What's wrong?

NiMH cells self-discharge in storage, and a deeply discharged pack can fall below the voltage threshold a charger needs to start a charge cycle. Connect the pack to the charger and leave it for up to 30 minutes — some chargers apply a recovery trickle below their normal detection threshold. If the charger still won't engage, use a bench power supply or compatible trickle charger to bring the pack above 4.0V total before returning it to the standard Narva charger.

One side of my 71320 inspection light seems dimmer than the other — could a single cell in the pack be failing?

A single weak cell in a series NiMH pack will drag the whole pack's voltage down unevenly under load, which can cause uneven LED output depending on how the driver distributes power across the light strip. This usually means the old pack had a cell starting to fail before you swapped it. Install the full replacement pack (71392) as a complete unit — never mix it with individual cells pulled from the old pack — and recharge fully before use. Check that pack voltage reads at least 5.6V at the connector immediately after a full charge.
