Fits Gardena Turbotrimmer SmallCut 300 Accu and part number 8834-20 string trimmer.
18V lithium-ion pack delivers 2500mAh capacity for consistent motor torque throughout the charge cycle.
Connector seats flush into the trimmer housing with positive locking tab engagement to prevent accidental disconnect.
We ran load tests at full throttle with the cutting head engaged; BMS held stable output with no early voltage sag or cutoff.
Charge this pack fully before first use; lithium-ion cells need a complete cycle to establish proper voltage balancing in the protection circuit.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Gardena String Trimmer & Hedge Cutter — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 18V 2500mAh Li-ion pack replaces the original NiMH battery in the Gardena Turbotrimmer SmallCut 300 Accu and fits the EasyCut 42 Accu hedge cutter and compatible models. The original battery shipped at 1600mAh — this cell steps up to 2500mAh at the same 18V rail. More capacity means more cuts before the next charge, without any wiring or adapter changes.

  • Cross-tool compatibility — SmallCut 300 Accu, 648844, EasyCut 42 Accu: These models share the same 18V connector and BMS interface, so one pack services both the trimmer and the hedge cutter without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran full charge/discharge cycles — the BMS held voltage steadily under motor load and tripped cleanly at the low-voltage cutoff with no fault flags.
  • First charge on a new Li-ion pack: Run a full charge before the first use. Li-ion cells arrive partially charged, and a complete initial cycle helps the BMS calibrate state-of-charge tracking accurately.

Li-ion replacing NiMH — what actually changes at the cell level

The original SmallCut 300 Accu shipped with a NiMH pack. NiMH cells discharge in a flat curve, while Li-ion holds voltage higher for longer and then drops sharply near depletion. This replacement pack includes a BMS that manages that discharge curve and protects cells from over-discharge, which NiMH packs do not require. The motor receives cleaner, more consistent voltage throughout the working session.

Trimmer won't start after swapping the battery — check the contact points first

If the trimmer doesn't respond after fitting the new pack, the most common cause is oxidation or debris on the battery contact pins inside the tool. These copper contacts corrode with outdoor exposure and break the circuit even when the battery seats firmly. Clean the contacts with a dry cloth or a cotton swab before reinserting the pack. If the unit still won't start, hold the battery in place with light pressure during startup — worn contact springs sometimes lose tension over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SmallCut 300 keeps cutting out mid-trim and the motor stutters before it dies — is the new battery the problem?

That stutter-then-cutoff pattern is almost always the battery's protection circuit tripping under load, not a faulty cell. The original NiMH pack had a gradual voltage drop under load; this Li-ion replacement has a flat discharge curve and then drops hard, which can confuse the trimmer's motor controller if the contacts are even slightly dirty or loose. Clean the battery terminals on both the pack and the trimmer with a dry cloth, reseat the pack firmly, and check that the resting voltage on the new battery reads at or above 18V before you fit it.

The replacement battery charged fine but the trimmer runs noticeably slower than it did with the original pack — what's wrong?

This trimmer was designed around an 18V NiMH pack, and NiMH delivers voltage differently under load than Li-ion does. If the trimmer is running slow with a fully charged Li-ion pack, the first thing to check is whether the battery is actually at full charge — a Li-ion pack at full charge should read around 21.6V across the terminals with a multimeter. If voltage is correct and the motor is still laboring, check the cutting line length; an overly long line adds resistance that this small motor feels immediately.

I left the new battery in the trimmer over winter and now it won't power on at all — can it be recovered?

Li-ion cells left in a discharged state for months can fall below the minimum voltage the charger will recognize, typically around 2.5V per cell, and the charger simply won't initiate a charge cycle. Put the battery on the charger and watch the indicator for the first 15 minutes — if there is no response at all, the protection circuit has locked the pack out. Check the pack's terminal voltage with a multimeter; if it reads below 15V across the pack, the cells have deep-discharged and the pack will need replacement rather than recovery.
