Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kobalt 80V Cordless Leaf Blower — 80V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 80V 2000mAh lithium-ion pack replaces the OEM battery in Kobalt's 80V Max handheld cordless leaf blower lineup. It fits the KB3080-06, KB2580-06, KB680-06, and KB280-06 blowers, along with compatible 80V snow blowers, snow shovels, and other Kobalt 80V platform tools. Voltage is 80V nominal; capacity is 2000mAh (160Wh).
- 80V platform compatibility: Kobalt built the KB-series blowers, snow shovels, and single-stage snow blowers on the same 80V rail and connector standard — one battery family covers the platform.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran full charge/discharge cycles — the BMS held voltage steady under the brushless motor's load and cut off cleanly at the low-voltage threshold without tripping a fault state.
- First charge after storage: If the pack has been sitting, run a full charge before first use — lithium-ion cells at partial state-of-charge can show reduced output until the BMS recalibrates cell balancing.
Why airflow performance ties directly to battery voltage stability
The KB3080-06 brushless motor pulls high current bursts when airflow demand spikes — clearing wet leaves or compacted debris. A weak or degraded cell under that load causes voltage sag, which the motor controller reads as a low-battery condition. That's why cell quality inside the pack matters as much as rated capacity. This replacement uses cells matched to the 80V rail to keep voltage from drooping under sustained high-draw use.
Blower cuts out mid-use even with charge showing
If the blower shuts off before the indicator reads empty, the original pack's cells have likely developed uneven capacity across the cell groups. The BMS protects against over-discharge on the weakest group, cutting power even when stronger cells still have charge remaining. Swapping to a fresh pack with balanced cells resolves this immediately. Store the replacement between 40–80% charge if the tool will sit unused for more than a few weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Kobalt 80V blower cuts out at full throttle but works fine on low speed — what's wrong?
Full-throttle cutouts on high-draw brushless blowers almost always point to voltage sag — the pack drops below the protection threshold under peak load and the BMS trips the output before the motor can pull enough current. This happens faster on a 2000mAh pack because the smaller cell capacity hits the sag ceiling sooner than a 2.5Ah or 4Ah pack would. Check the resting voltage on the battery with a multimeter after it cools down: a healthy 80V Li-ion pack should read between 84V and 88V at full charge. If it reads below 80V at rest, the pack is failing to hold charge and needs replacing.
Kobalt 80V battery feels warm after a short run and the blower starts losing power before the indicator shows low — is that normal?
That's thermal throttling, not a calibration issue. The BMS is reading rising cell temperature and pulling back current to protect the pack — it happens faster in warm weather or when the battery was charged immediately before use without a cool-down period. On the bench, we see this pattern most often in 2000mAh 80V packs running sustained high-CFM loads because the smaller cell count concentrates heat faster than higher-capacity packs. Let the battery sit for 15 minutes after charging before running the blower at full speed, and check whether the power loss still starts at the same point.
Kobalt 80V blower ran fine last season but now it bogs down halfway through a pile and recovers when I release the trigger — what causes that?
Seasonal storage is the most likely culprit — Li-ion cells that sit discharged over winter develop elevated internal resistance, which causes the pack to sag under load and recover the moment current demand drops. This resistance increase is permanent if the cells were stored at low state of charge for months, and it won't improve with more charge cycles. Fully charge the pack, then measure the voltage under load by watching the battery indicator through a full-throttle burst: if the lights drop by two levels instantly and recover when you release, internal resistance is the problem. At that point, a replacement pack is the fix — cycling a high-resistance pack doesn't restore cell capacity.
