Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin StreetPilot C320 / C340 / C530 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (IA3AB07B1A97)

This 3.7V, 2600mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Garmin StreetPilot C320, C330, C340, and C530 portable GPS navigators. It uses OEM part numbers IA3AB07B1A97, 361-00022-00, 361-00022-05, and 361-00022-07. Fit the correct cell and the unit charges, boots, and navigates exactly as it did when new.

  • StreetPilot C-series compatibility: The C320, C330, C340, and C530 all share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. One cell fits all four units without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the C-series platform. The BMS accepted charge without fault codes, held voltage within spec across the full state-of-charge range, and cut off cleanly at the low-voltage threshold.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before driving. A full power interruption triggers a cold start — first fix can take 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts are under a minute once the almanac is cached.

GPS accuracy dropping at low battery on the StreetPilot C-series

As the C-series battery voltage drops below roughly 3.5V, the unit begins reducing power to the GPS receiver to extend remaining charge. This lowers receiver sensitivity, which narrows the satellite pool the unit can lock onto. Fewer satellites means a weaker position fix and wider error margins — enough to shift a plotted position by tens of metres in weak-signal conditions. Keeping the cell above its half-charge voltage keeps the receiver running at full sensitivity.

StreetPilot C320 shutting off without a low-battery warning

The C-series battery indicator reads from a voltage-to-capacity lookup table calibrated to the original cell. After years of cycling, the old cell's discharge curve shifts — the unit thinks it has charge remaining, then hits the hardware low-voltage cutoff without showing a warning. Fitting a fresh cell resets the actual discharge curve to match the lookup table. Run two full charge-to-cutoff cycles after fitting the new battery so the indicator and the real charge state align.

Frequently Asked Questions

My StreetPilot C320 lost all my saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The C-series stores saved routes and some user data in battery-backed RAM, so a full power removal clears that memory. Favourites and home/work addresses stored in flash are usually retained, but custom routes built in-session are at risk. Before pulling the old cell, export any routes you need via Garmin's MapSource software — reimport them after the swap.

It took nearly 10 minutes to get a GPS fix after fitting the new battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Cutting power clears the unit's satellite almanac, forcing a cold start where the receiver has to download fresh orbital data from scratch. That takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear view of sky. Every warm start after that — where the almanac is cached — will lock in under a minute. Leave the unit stationary outdoors for the first fix rather than starting it in a car park or under tree cover.

The C320 is draining the new battery much faster when I'm actively navigating than when it's just sitting on the desk — what's pulling the power?

Active navigation runs two high-draw subsystems simultaneously: the GPS receiver tracking satellites continuously and the backlit display at whatever brightness you have set. Together they pull significantly more current than standby. Drop screen brightness one or two steps in Settings — the GPS receiver draw is fixed, but display brightness is the one variable you control and it makes a measurable difference to how long the charge lasts on a long drive.
