This 7.2V 3000mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM A-2 cell in the Arlo Go mobile security camera. It fits the Go, VML4030, and VMA4410 models. Capacity figure is sourced from the product data — 21.6Wh total energy.

  • Go, VML4030, and VMA4410 compatibility: All three models share the same A-2 battery format, voltage rail, and connector pinout. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across this hardware generation, so one cell works across the full group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Go platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, held the cutoff voltage correctly at low state of charge, and did not trip on the combined IR LED and processor current draw during motion events.
  • First-install power cycle: After fitting the battery, power cycle the camera once through the Arlo app. The firmware must register the new cell before motion recording triggers log correctly to cloud storage — skipping this step can cause missed clips even when the camera appears online.

Swapping the battery cuts power entirely, which drops the active firmware session. When the camera restarts, it attempts to re-establish its cloud session using a stored token. If that token has expired — common on cameras left dormant — the app registers the device as offline even though the hardware is running. The Arlo Go uses a voltage-threshold indicator, not a fuel gauge IC. After a swap, the firmware has no charge history to reference and defaults to a low or zero reading. Run one full charge from flat to 100% without interruption. That cycle gives the firmware two clear voltage endpoints — the indicator recalibrates and displays an accurate percentage from that point forward.

The most likely cause is a WiFi reconnect current spike. When signal drops briefly outdoors, the radio module draws a sharp burst of current to re-associate — if this coincides with the IR LEDs firing on a motion event, the combined load can trip the BMS and interrupt the recording. Move the camera closer to the access point or add a WiFi extender to reduce reconnect frequency. A stable signal is the single most effective fix for mid-clip dropout.

My Arlo Go camera stops detecting motion overnight even though the battery is charged — is night vision killing it?

Sustained IR LED draw during low-light hours is heavier than typical daytime load. On a degraded or deeply discharged cell, this continuous draw pulls the pack voltage down far enough that the BMS applies a soft cutoff to protect the cell — the camera goes into a low-power sleep and stops triggering motion events. If the camera recovers after sunrise when IR LEDs switch off, that confirms the cause. Bring the battery to a full charge and check that the resting voltage reads above 8.0V before reinstalling.

The solar panel connected to my Arlo Go isn't charging the battery after it fully depleted — how do I get it working again?

Solar panels output lower current than a wall charger, and most BMS circuits require a minimum voltage to exit deep-discharge protection mode. If the cell dropped below roughly 5.4V, the BMS locks out the charge path entirely — the panel's trickle current isn't enough to push past the re-entry threshold. Charge the battery directly with the supplied USB cable until it reaches a stable voltage above 6.0V, then reinstall and reconnect the solar panel to resume normal charging.
