Fits SimpliSafe CMOB1 outdoor camera, replaces OEM battery SSCAM-BAT1 and SSCAM-BAT11.
This 3.7V, 5200mAh lithium-ion cell delivers the capacity for extended wireless surveillance between charge cycles.
Battery slides into the camera housing with a single connector tab; no adapter needed.
We tested the BMS on initial insertion — the circuit accepted the new cell without fault codes on first power.
After installation, power cycle the camera once through the app so firmware re-registers the new cell before motion recording logs correctly.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SimpliSafe CMOB1 Outdoor Camera — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SSCAM-BAT1)

This is a 3.7V, 5200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the SimpliSafe CMOB1 and Extra Outdoor security camera range. It replaces OEM part numbers SSCAM-BAT1 and SSCAM-BAT11. Capacity figure comes from the product data — 19.24Wh total stored energy.

  • CMOB1 and Extra Outdoor compatibility: These models share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one battery covers the full outdoor camera lineup without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through motion-triggered recording, IR night vision activation, and WiFi reconnection events. The BMS held steady across sustained IR LED draw and did not trip on the processor wake-up current spike during motion events.
  • First-install power cycle via app: After fitting this battery, trigger a manual power cycle through the SimpliSafe app. The camera firmware must register the new cell before motion events log correctly to cloud storage — skipping this step can cause missed clips even when the camera appears online.

Why the CMOB1 goes offline in the app after a battery swap

When power is interrupted during a battery change, the camera drops its active session token with the SimpliSafe cloud. The app loses the handshake and marks the device offline even though the hardware is powered and functional. This is a firmware session issue, not a battery fault. Re-register the camera through the app's device settings to restore the connection.

App reporting 0% or incorrect battery percentage after install

The CMOB1 uses a voltage-threshold indicator — it maps resting cell voltage to a percentage band rather than using a fuel gauge IC. A freshly installed battery may sit at a voltage that falls between threshold steps, so the app displays 0% or an unusually low figure. Run one full discharge-and-charge cycle to let the indicator re-anchor to the correct voltage band. After that cycle, the percentage readout should track normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SimpliSafe outdoor camera stops recording mid-clip — is the battery cutting out?

A mid-clip dropout on the CMOB1 is usually a BMS trip caused by the current spike when the camera reconnects to WiFi on a weak signal. The combined draw of the radio, processor, and IR LEDs briefly exceeds the BMS threshold, triggering a cutoff. The battery itself recovers immediately, but the recording session is already lost. Move the camera closer to the router or add a WiFi extender to reduce reconnect frequency — that alone eliminates most mid-clip failures.

Night vision works for a few seconds then the camera goes to sleep — what's happening?

Sustained IR LED draw is higher than the camera's standby current by a significant margin, and if the cell voltage has sagged from partial depletion, the BMS will cut power to protect the cell during prolonged night-vision sessions. Check the app's battery percentage before dark — if it reads below 20%, a depleted cell is the direct cause. Charge the battery fully, then refit it and power-cycle through the app. If the problem continues on a full charge, the original cell has degraded past recovery and this replacement will resolve it.

The solar panel topped up my camera all summer but now the battery drains without recovering — why?

Solar panels output lower voltage in winter due to reduced daylight hours and panel angle, and the CMOB1's BMS requires the cell to be above a minimum re-entry voltage before it will accept a charge from a low-current source like solar. If the cell drops below roughly 3.0V, solar input alone cannot restart the charging circuit. Connect the camera to a USB power source to bring the cell back above the BMS re-entry threshold, then return it to solar charging once the percentage reads above 20%.
