Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony PS3 Wireless Qwerty Keypad — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (MK11-3023)

This 3.7V 570mAh Li-ion cell replaces the internal battery in the Sony PS3 Wireless Qwerty Keypad. It fits the CECHZK1UC and CECHZK1JP models, as well as units referenced by OEM part numbers MK11-2903 and MK11-2902. If your keypad no longer holds a charge or dies quickly after unplugging from the PS3 USB port, this is the cell to replace.

  • CECHZK1UC and CECHZK1JP compatibility: Both regional variants use the same 3.7V single-cell configuration and identical connector pinout. The BMS on each accepts this cell without modification or firmware differences between regions.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell in a CECHZK1UC unit and confirmed the BMS accepted charge from the PS3 USB port at 5V input, balanced correctly at 4.2V, and engaged the low-voltage cutoff at approximately 3.0V as expected.
  • Post-swap reconnection on PS3: After replacing the internal battery, the keypad may drop its active Bluetooth session. Re-pair by holding the keypad's Connect button and re-selecting it through the PS3 accessory settings menu — this is a Bluetooth session reset, not a hardware fault.

Keypad pairing lost after battery replacement

Swapping the internal cell causes a full power loss, which clears the active Bluetooth pairing stored in the keypad's volatile memory. The PS3 retains its paired device list, but the keypad itself forgets the session. To restore it, hold the Connect button on the keypad until the indicator flashes, then navigate to PS3 Settings → Accessory Settings → Manage Bluetooth Devices and re-register the keypad. This is a one-time step after any full power interruption.

Keypad input lag or dropped characters at low charge

When cell voltage drops below roughly 3.2V, the Bluetooth transmitter in the keypad reduces its polling rate to conserve power. This shows up as delayed keystrokes or characters that don't register during fast typing. It is not a pairing issue — it is the radio pulling back under low voltage. Charging the keypad via the PS3 USB port until the indicator shows full resolves it immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PS3 keypad reconnected fine after the battery swap but now drops characters when I type fast — what's wrong?

This is a Bluetooth polling rate issue, not a pairing problem. When the new cell hasn't been fully charged yet, the transmitter throttles back to conserve power, causing missed keystrokes at speed. Charge the keypad via the PS3 USB port until the charge indicator shows full. Once the cell sits at 4.2V, the polling rate returns to normal and fast typing registers cleanly.

The PS3 keypad won't show up in the Bluetooth device list after I replaced the battery — the PS3 doesn't see it at all.

Full power loss during the battery swap clears the keypad's stored pairing session entirely. Hold the Connect button on the keypad until the indicator starts flashing rapidly, then go to PS3 Settings → Accessory Settings → Manage Bluetooth Devices and run a new device scan. The keypad should appear within a few seconds — select it to complete the re-pair.

The replacement battery drains faster than expected even though the keypad is barely used — is the cell faulty?

Wireless keypads like the PS3 Qwerty model maintain a low-power Bluetooth keep-alive signal even when idle, which draws from the cell continuously. If the keypad is left attached to the PS3 while the console is in standby, that drain adds up quickly over days. Disconnect the keypad from the PS3's USB charging port once fully charged and power it off when not in use — the cell is rated 570mAh and self-discharge alone should not cause noticeable drop over a few days of standby.
