Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ambrogio 4.0 Basic / 4.0 Elite Series — 25.2V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1126-9105-01)
This is a 25.2V 10200mAh (257.04Wh) lithium-ion battery for the Ambrogio 4.0 robotic lawn mower range. It fits the 4.0 Basic, 4.0 Basic 4WD, 4.0 Elite, and 4.0 Elite 4WD, along with over 60 additional compatible models. When the original pack can no longer hold a charge, this replaces it and restores autonomous mowing operation.
- 4.0 series platform fit: The 4.0 Basic and Elite models share the same 25.2V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One battery covers both trim levels and their 4WD variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge cycles and simulated blade motor inrush loads. The BMS handled repeated high-draw events correctly, including protection tripping and reset behaviour under sustained load.
- Seasonal storage tip: If the mower has been sitting in an unheated garage below 10°C, bring the battery indoors overnight before the first spring charge. Cold Li-ion cells carry higher internal resistance, and the blade motor inrush on a cold pack can trip the BMS at startup before the motor reaches running speed.
Charger showing a fault light after winter storage
Lithium-ion packs self-discharge over months of inactivity. If a pack drops below roughly 2.5V per cell during winter storage, most chargers enter a protection state and refuse to begin a standard charge cycle. The Ambrogio charger will typically flash an amber or red fault indicator in this condition. To recover the pack, leave it connected — some chargers will apply a low-current trickle for 10–15 minutes to bring cells back above the acceptance threshold before switching to normal charging. If the fault light persists after 20 minutes, disconnect, wait 5 minutes, and reconnect to trigger a fresh handshake attempt.
Mower cuts out mid-row then restarts after a short pause
This is a thermal protection trip, not a capacity fault. When the blade motor works through thick or wet grass, current draw spikes and the BMS monitors cell temperature continuously. If the pack temperature exceeds the BMS threshold, it cuts power to protect the cells — the mower stops, then resumes once the pack cools below the reset point. Allow a 5-minute cooldown on the dock before resuming. Recurring trips in normal dry conditions after the first 5 charge cycles indicate either a charging issue or a BMS fault worth investigating.

Frequently Asked Questions
The charger light goes straight to fault the moment I plug in after winter — is the battery dead?
Not necessarily. After months of storage, cell voltage can drop below the charger's acceptance threshold, which triggers the fault indicator immediately. Leave the battery connected for up to 20 minutes — the charger may apply a low-current recovery pulse before switching to normal mode. If the light stays solid fault after 20 minutes, disconnect for 5 minutes and reconnect to force a fresh handshake. A pack that recovers and holds a full charge is fine; one that won't accept charge after two recovery attempts has likely lost too many cells below recoverable voltage.
My Ambrogio cuts out mid-lawn in thick or wet grass but starts again after a few minutes — what's happening?
The BMS is tripping on thermal overload from blade motor current spikes, not a battery defect. Wet and thick grass forces the blade motor to draw sharply higher current, which heats the cells faster than normal. The BMS cuts power once temperature exceeds its protection threshold and resets once the pack cools. Dock the mower for at least 5 minutes before resuming — if trips are happening on dry, short grass after the first 5 charge cycles, check that the blade is sharp and the mower is not running a cutting height that overloads the motor.
The new battery feels warmer than my old one during the first few charges — should I be concerned?
New cells run warmer than a degraded pack for the first 3–5 cycles because fresh lithium-ion chemistry has slightly higher internal resistance before the electrodes fully condition. This is normal. What is not normal is a pack that gets too hot to touch or triggers the mower's thermal cutout repeatedly on flat, dry grass before 5 cycles are complete. Monitor the pack surface temperature after the first three full charges — if it is warm but not painful to hold for 3 seconds, conditioning is proceeding as expected and the warmth will reduce as cycles accumulate.
