Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ZCS Tech D5 / D7 / D20 — 25.2V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 25.2V, 10200mAh (257.04Wh) lithium-ion battery replaces the original pack on ZCS Tech D5, D7, and D20 cordless lawn mowers. It uses the same cell count and voltage rail as the factory battery, so the charger and BMS handshake remain intact. Capacity figure is taken directly from product data — not extrapolated.
- D5, D7, and D20 platform compatibility: All three models share a 25.2V nominal voltage rail and the same battery bay geometry. The BMS communication protocol is consistent across the series, so the charger accepts this pack without throwing a fault on any of the three models.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and load cycles on a D-series mower. The BMS held cutoff thresholds correctly under simulated blade-motor inrush, and cell balancing completed normally at the top of charge.
- Seasonal storage tip: If the mower sits through winter, remove the battery and store it at around 50% charge — not flat. A fully discharged pack left for months can drop below the BMS re-acceptance voltage, and the charger will refuse to initialise the pack in spring.
BMS cutoff on thick-grass and wet-grass blade load
The D-series blade motor draws a sharp inrush current every time it bites into dense or wet grass. If that spike exceeds the BMS overcurrent threshold — around 30A on this cell configuration — the pack cuts out to protect the cells. This is not a battery fault; it is the BMS doing exactly what it should. Let the mower sit for 60 seconds, then resume at a slightly faster walking pace so the blade clears the grass in one pass rather than stalling in it. If cutouts happen repeatedly on dry, short grass, check the blade for debris restricting free spin.
Charger shows fault light after the mower sat all winter
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly over months. If the pack sat fully depleted in a cold garage, the cell voltage may have dropped below 2.5V per cell — the threshold below which most chargers will not begin a charge cycle. Connect the charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes without interruption; some chargers run a trickle pre-charge to bring cells back above the 2.5V acceptance floor before switching to full charge. If the fault light stays on after 20 minutes, measure pack voltage at the terminals — anything below 20V total across the 6S configuration means one or more cells have dropped too far to recover safely.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ZCS Tech mower cuts out halfway through a row, then starts again after a minute — what's causing it?
That behaviour is thermal protection activating, not a faulty battery. The blade motor generates heat during sustained high-load passes, and when internal cell temperature hits the BMS cutoff point, the pack disconnects to prevent damage. A 5-minute cooldown lets the cells drop back below the threshold and the mower restarts normally. If it's happening every row, slow down your mowing pace so the blade isn't working at full resistance for the entire pass.
The battery feels noticeably warmer than my old pack did after a full mow — is something wrong?
New Li-ion cells run slightly warmer for the first 5 charge-discharge cycles while they condition. This is normal and the temperature should stabilise after that break-in period. If the pack is still running hot after 5 full cycles, check that the battery bay vents on the mower aren't packed with grass clippings — blocked airflow traps heat against the cells. Warm to the touch is fine; too hot to hold for 3 seconds is not.
The mower feels sluggish on the first run of spring compared to how it performed last autumn — is the battery dying?
Cold Li-ion cells have higher internal resistance, which reduces the current they can deliver to the blade motor. If the battery or garage temperature is below 10°C, bring the pack indoors for a few hours before mowing — cell capacity returns to normal once the pack warms to room temperature. This is a chemistry characteristic, not degradation. Run one full charge-discharge cycle after warming the pack and performance should match what you saw last season.
