Fits iRiver Clix Plus and U20 models; replaces OEM part M1-F1228C-C.
3.7V, 950mAh Li-Polymer cell restores full playback capacity to aging media players.
Connector seats flush into original battery slot with no modification required.
We bench-tested this cell in a Clix Plus; BMS accepted charge at standard current with no fault codes.
After install, insert the charged battery and power on immediately — media players entering deep discharge protection require immediate power-up confirmation to reset the voltage monitor.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

iRiver Clix Plus / U20 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (M1-F1228C-C)

This is a 3.7V, 950mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the iRiver Clix Plus and U20 portable media players. It fits a compact 51.58 × 36.31 × 3.06mm cell footprint inside the original housing. If your Clix Plus no longer holds a charge or won't power on after storage, this cell replaces the degraded original.

  • Clix Plus and U20 compatibility: Both devices share the same cell format, connector pinout, and voltage rail. The Clix Plus and U20 also appear under the retail model codes REI-iriverclix1 and REI-iriverclix2 — all use the same M1-F1228C-C cell.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Clix Plus platform. The onboard protection circuit responded correctly to charge cutoff at 4.2V and discharge cutoff near 3.0V with no tripping anomalies.
  • First charge after a swap: After installing, charge the device fully before first use. Media players that have sat unused often enter a deep discharge protection state. The cell needs a slow trickle charge before the device accepts normal charge current — skipping this step can leave the indicator stuck at zero.

Battery percentage jumping after a cell swap on the Clix Plus

The Clix Plus uses a voltage-threshold fuel gauge — it reads cell voltage and maps it to percentage steps. After a new cell goes in, the firmware's stored reference points no longer match the new cell's discharge curve. The indicator may jump from 80% to 20% mid-session or report full charge immediately after a short charge. Run two full charge-to-cutoff cycles and the gauge recalibrates to the new cell's actual voltage profile.

Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty

The audio amplifier inside the Clix Plus draws a surge of current at the end of the discharge curve, when cell voltage is already low. A degraded or deeply discharged cell cannot sustain that load — voltage sags below the device's minimum operating threshold and the player shuts off, even though the indicator hasn't reached zero. This is a cell voltage issue, not a firmware bug. A fresh cell at 950mAh capacity holds voltage stable through that final draw phase — confirm the replacement cell is fully charged to 4.2V before testing.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Clix Plus won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for a year — is the battery dead or is something else wrong?

Extended storage drains a Li-Polymer cell below the protection circuit's minimum threshold, and the device won't respond to the power button at all in that state. Connect the charger and leave it for 30 minutes before attempting to power on — the cell needs trickle current to recover to a voltage the protection circuit will accept. If the charge indicator light comes on within a few minutes of connecting, the cell is recovering. If there's no response after 45 minutes on the charger, the original cell has failed completely and needs replacing.

The battery percentage on my Clix Plus jumps all over the place right after I put in a new cell — did I get a faulty battery?

The Clix Plus maps voltage readings to percentage steps using reference points calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell has a slightly different curve, so the gauge misreads position on that curve and shows erratic jumps. Run two complete charge cycles — charge to full, play until cutoff, repeat — and the indicator settles into accurate reporting. No hardware fault; it's a recalibration issue.

My Clix Plus cuts out mid-track even though the battery indicator still shows charge remaining — what's causing that?

The audio amplifier pulls a current spike near the bottom of the discharge curve, and if the cell's voltage sags under that load, the player hits its undervoltage cutoff and shuts down before the indicator reaches empty. This happens most often with an aged original cell that can no longer hold voltage under load. A replacement cell at full 950mAh capacity maintains voltage through that final current draw — charge the new cell fully to 4.2V and retest before assuming the issue persists.
