Fits Creative Vado, Vado Pocket HD, and VF0570 models; replaces OEM part CAS101.
3.7V 750mAh lithium-ion cell delivers stable voltage for video recording and playback operations.
Connector slides into the Vado battery slot with a single retention tab; no tools needed.
We bench-tested this cell in a Vado unit; the BMS accepted charge current without fault codes.
After installing, connect the charger and wait 30 minutes before powering on the device—media players enter a deep discharge protection state after storage that requires trickle charge acceptance.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Creative Vado / Vado Pocket HD — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CAS101)

This is a 3.7V 750mAh Li-ion battery for the Creative Vado, Vado Video Cam, Vado Pocket HD, and VF0570 compact camcorders. It slots into the same bay as the original CAS101 and uses the same connector pinout. Capacity matches the stock specification — 750mAh (2.78Wh).

  • Vado and Vado Pocket HD compatibility: These models share the same 3.7V single-cell battery bay, connector layout, and BMS communication protocol — which is why one part number covers all of them. The cell size is identical across the range at 40.30 × 35.30 × 6.10mm.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Vado unit, monitoring BMS handshake and cutoff thresholds. The protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage floor and accepted a full charge without error flags.
  • First charge after extended storage: If the camcorder has been sitting unused, the cell may arrive in a deep-discharge protection state. Connect the charger and leave it for 30 minutes before attempting to power on — the BMS needs a slow trickle before it will accept normal charge current.

Battery percentage jumping on the Vado after a cell swap

The Vado's fuel gauge is calibrated to the voltage curve of the original cell. After fitting a new battery, the indicator reads voltage thresholds it hasn't mapped yet, so it can jump from 80% to 20% without warning. Run the battery down until the camcorder shuts off automatically, then charge it uninterrupted to full. One complete cycle resets the gauge to the new cell's actual discharge curve.

Vado cuts out during recording before the battery shows empty

The video encoder and LCD backlight together draw a current spike that a degraded or deeply discharged cell can't sustain — voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold even when the indicator still shows charge remaining. This is a cell condition issue, not a firmware fault. Fit the replacement, run a full charge cycle, and confirm the camcorder completes a recording session without the low-voltage cutoff triggering early. If it still cuts out, check that the battery contacts in the bay are clean and making firm contact.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Vado won't turn on even with a new battery installed — what's wrong?

The new cell may have arrived in a deep-discharge state after storage, and the BMS is blocking normal startup until it receives a trickle charge. Connect the Vado to its charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes without pressing the power button. The protection circuit needs that window to accept current before it will release the low-voltage lock. After 30 minutes, try powering on while still connected to the charger.

The battery percentage on my Vado jumps around erratically after fitting the replacement — is the battery faulty?

It's not faulty — it's the fuel gauge recalibrating to an unfamiliar voltage curve. The Vado's indicator was mapped to the discharge profile of the original cell, so a new cell throws the readings off until it learns the new curve. Run the battery down until the camcorder shuts itself off, then charge it fully without interruption. One complete discharge-to-full cycle is enough to stabilise the percentage readout.

My Vado recording cuts out mid-clip but the battery indicator still shows charge remaining — what's causing that?

The video encoder draws a current spike during active recording that can pull cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold, even when the indicator reads partial charge. On an aged or recently deep-discharged cell, the internal resistance is too high to sustain that draw. With the replacement installed, run one full charge cycle first before testing under load. If cutouts continue, clean the battery bay contacts with a dry cloth and confirm the cell is seated with firm pressure.
