Replaces OEM part number PPSB0502 for Samsung YH-920 and YH-925 media players.
3.7V, 750mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 2.78Wh — the original capacity needed for full playback sessions.
Connector mates directly to the YH-920 internal dock; no adapter or modification required.
We bench-tested this cell in a YH-925 unit; BMS accepted the charge handshake on first insertion without fault codes.
After install, connect the charger and let it sit for 30 minutes before powering on — early 2000s Samsung players enter deep discharge protection after long storage and need a slow current acceptance cycle first.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung YH-920 / YH-925 MP3 Player — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PPSB0502)

This is a 3.7V, 750mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Samsung YH-920 and YH-925 portable media players. It matches the original PPSB0502 cell on voltage, capacity, and connector orientation. If your player shuts down early or won't hold a charge, this is the direct cell swap.

  • YH-920 and YH-925 compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V single-cell Li-ion architecture and share the PPSB0502 form factor. The connector pinout and BMS communication protocol are identical across the two, so one cell covers both players without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the YH-920 platform. The onboard BMS accepted full charge current without tripping, and the protection circuit engaged cleanly at low-voltage cutoff — no false shutdowns during playback.
  • Post-install charge protocol for the YH-920/YH-925: After fitting this cell, connect the original Samsung charger before powering on. Devices stored long-term often enter deep discharge protection and need a slow trickle feed before the firmware accepts a normal charge cycle. Give it at least 30 minutes on charge first.

Battery percentage jumping around after fitting a new cell

The YH-920 uses a voltage-threshold fuel gauge — it reads state of charge by sampling cell voltage, not by tracking actual coulombs in and out. A fresh cell has a slightly different voltage curve than a worn original, so the indicator recalibrates over the first few charge cycles. Expect the percentage to read inaccurately or jump in the first two or three full cycles. Run the battery down to auto-shutoff and recharge fully each time — by cycle three, the displayed percentage stabilises.

Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty

The audio amplifier in the YH-920 draws a voltage spike when driving headphone output at higher volumes. At the tail end of a discharge curve — typically below 3.5V — that spike is enough to pull cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold, triggering a shutdown even though the gauge still shows remaining charge. This isn't a faulty battery; it's voltage sag under load on a depleted cell. Lowering playback volume extends usable charge near the end of a cycle, and the player will recover its indicated percentage once voltage stabilises at rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

My YH-920 won't turn on at all after sitting unused for a year — is the new battery dead too?

Probably not. After long storage, Li-ion cells drop below the threshold the YH-920's firmware needs to boot, and the device enters a deep discharge protection state where it won't respond to the power button. Connect the charger and leave it plugged in for at least 30 minutes before pressing power — the BMS needs a trickle charge to bring cell voltage back above roughly 3.0V before normal operation resumes.

The battery percentage on my YH-925 jumps from 60% straight to 10% — is something wrong with the cell?

Nothing is wrong. The YH-925 reads charge level from cell voltage alone, not from a tracked charge counter. A new cell has a slightly different discharge curve than the original, so the fuel gauge misreads it until the two align. Run three full cycles — charge to full, play until auto-shutoff, recharge fully — and the percentage display will track accurately by the third cycle.

Audio cuts out randomly even though the battery still shows charge remaining on the YH-920 — what's happening?

The headphone amplifier pulls a short current spike at higher volume levels. When the cell is near the end of its discharge, that spike drags cell voltage below the BMS cutoff, triggering a shutdown before the gauge reads empty. This is voltage sag under load, not a faulty cell. Turn playback volume down one or two notches when the indicator drops below 20% and the cutouts will stop.
