Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Tascam MP-GT1 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (E01587110A)
This 3.7V 3400mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Tascam MP-GT1 portable guitar multi-effects processor. It fits the MP-GT1 directly, covering the same amp modeling, looper, and effects processing functions the unit was shipped with. Dimensions are 68.46 × 18.50 × 18.50mm — confirm against your existing cell before ordering.
- MP-GT1 fit: The MP-GT1 draws from a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a specific connector and protection circuit. This cell matches that voltage rail and physical form factor. The BMS handshake on the MP-GT1 communicates directly with the cell's protection board, so the charge and discharge thresholds hold correctly.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the MP-GT1 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the protection circuit cut in cleanly at the low-voltage threshold — no false trips during audio processing load spikes.
- Post-swap initialisation on the MP-GT1: After fitting a new cell, connect the MP-GT1 to its charger before powering on. New and stored cells can sit below the activation threshold, and the unit needs a slow trickle input first to exit deep-discharge protection before it will boot normally.
Battery percentage jumping after cell swap on the MP-GT1
After replacing the cell, the MP-GT1's fuel gauge algorithm re-references its voltage-to-capacity table against the new cell's discharge curve. Until it completes one or two full charge-discharge cycles, the percentage reading can jump — typically between 20% and 80% state of charge where the curve is flattest. This is a recalibration issue, not a fault with the cell. Run two complete cycles from full charge down to automatic cutoff, and the indicator will stabilise. If it still reads erratically after two cycles, check that the connector is fully seated and the protection board contacts are clean.
Playback cutting out before the MP-GT1 shows empty
The MP-GT1's audio amplifier stage needs a stable voltage floor to sustain output. As the cell approaches end-of-discharge, voltage sags under audio load before the battery indicator reaches zero — the amp stage drops out first. This typically happens below 3.5V under load, even though the resting voltage still reads higher. If you see this, charge the unit immediately rather than continuing to draw from the cell. Letting it cycle repeatedly at this sag point accelerates capacity fade faster than normal use.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MP-GT1 won't turn on even though it was working fine before I stored it — what's wrong?
Extended storage drains Li-ion cells below the activation voltage, and the MP-GT1 will refuse to boot until the cell recovers above that threshold. Connect the charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on — do not press the power button during this window. The protection circuit needs trickle current to bring the cell back up before the main charge cycle starts. Once the charge indicator lights normally, the unit should power on without issue.
The MP-GT1 battery percentage is jumping all over the place after I put in the new cell — is it defective?
The fuel gauge is recalibrating its voltage-threshold map against the new cell's discharge curve, which differs slightly from the worn-out original. This produces erratic readings — most commonly between 20% and 80% state of charge where the Li-ion curve is nearly flat. Run two full charge-to-cutoff cycles without interrupting them, and the indicator will lock onto the new curve. If the readings are still unstable after two full cycles, reseat the battery connector and check for any debris on the contact pins.
The MP-GT1 dies mid-session but the battery icon still shows charge remaining — why?
The amp and DSP stages in the MP-GT1 draw a surge when processing complex effects chains, and an ageing or deeply discharged cell can't hold voltage under that load even when the resting reading looks acceptable. Voltage sag under load pulls the supply below the minimum the processor needs, triggering a shutdown before the indicator reaches empty. Check the cell's resting voltage with a multimeter — if it reads below 3.6V after a full charge cycle, the cell is no longer holding charge correctly. Replace the cell and run a full charge before the next session.
