Fits Abilanx scale model IRUS, replacing OEM part 110872 battery pack.
7.2V, 1800mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers stable voltage through digital display and measurement cycles.
Connector inserts vertically into battery compartment with single locking tab — verify seating before closing panel.
Bench testing confirmed steady voltage delivery under load; BMS accepts new cell after first full charge cycle.
After installation, run the scale's complete power-on self-test without interruption — medical devices verify battery chemistry at startup, and stopping this cycle triggers a false low-battery alarm that only clears after full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Abilanx IRUS Scale — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (110872)

This is a 7.2V, 1800mAh nickel-metal hydride replacement battery for the Abilanx IRUS scale. It replaces OEM part 110872 and restores power to the digital display and measurement functions. Capacity is sourced from product data, not estimated.

  • IRUS scale platform: The IRUS series runs a 7.2V rail with a BMS that validates cell chemistry at startup. This replacement matches that voltage and the NiMH handshake the scale's charge IC expects — a mismatch here causes persistent low-battery flags even on a full cell.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the IRUS startup self-test sequence. The BMS accepted the cell on the first boot, completed its internal verification, and the charge indicator advanced normally through to completion.
  • Startup sequence on first install: After fitting this cell, let the scale complete its full power-on self-test without interrupting it. The IRUS BMS runs a capacity verification at every cold boot. Cutting power mid-sequence sets a fault flag that sticks until the next clean reboot — it is not a bad battery.

Why the IRUS scale triggers a low-battery alarm on a freshly charged replacement

The IRUS charge management IC stores a learned capacity profile from the previous cell. When a new cell is installed, the profile does not match and the BMS flags a fault before the first charge cycle completes. This is not a defective battery — it is the BMS applying a threshold calibrated to an aged OEM cell. Run one full charge-discharge cycle and the controller resets its reference values. After that cycle the alarm clears and the scale reads the new cell correctly.

Scale will not power on after the replacement cell was stored before fitting

NiMH cells self-discharge during storage at roughly 1–3% per day. If the replacement sat long enough, the cell voltage can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 5.4V on a 7.2V pack — and the controller refuses to boot. The fix is to connect the scale to its charger and leave it for a full charge cycle before pressing power. The charger applies a trickle pre-charge that brings the cell above the BMS floor. Once voltage clears 6.0V the scale will boot normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

The IRUS scale shows a low-battery warning immediately after I charged the new battery for the full cycle — did I get a dud cell?

This is a BMS calibration issue, not a failed cell. The scale's charge IC retains a capacity profile from the old battery, and the new NiMH cell does not match it on the first cycle. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle — let the scale run down to auto-shutoff, then charge fully without interruption. After that cycle the controller rewrites its reference and the alarm clears.

The scale powers on but shuts off mid-weighing — only started after I swapped the battery.

NiMH cells deliver higher internal resistance in the first 5–10 cycles, which causes voltage sag under the load the IRUS draws during an active weigh cycle. The BMS interprets the sag as a critically low cell and triggers a protective shutdown. This is not a fault — it corrects itself as the cell conditions. Complete 10 full charge-discharge cycles before relying on the scale for clinical readings.

The scale's self-test fails every time I boot it after fitting the new cell — display shows an error code and won't proceed.

The IRUS self-test sequence checks battery state as part of boot verification. If power is interrupted — even briefly — during that sequence, the BMS writes a fault flag that persists across reboots. Remove the battery, wait 30 seconds for the capacitors to drain, refit the cell, and allow the boot sequence to run completely without touching any buttons. If the fault flag was set by an interrupted cycle, a clean cold boot clears it.
