Why the SEP10s logs a battery fault after a confirmed full charge

The SEP10s BMS applies a charge-acceptance threshold calibrated to the OEM cell's internal resistance profile. A new replacement cell has a slightly different impedance signature on the first cycle, which can cause the BMS to log a fault even though the pack is fully charged. This is not a defective battery — it is the BMS comparing cell behaviour against stored OEM parameters. One complete charge-discharge cycle normalises the cell's response and clears the fault condition on subsequent boots.

Syringe pump fails to power on after battery sat unused

Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage, and if voltage drops below approximately 4.0V the SEP10s BMS enters a protection state that blocks normal startup. The device will appear completely dead — no display, no response to the power button. Connect the charger and leave the pack on charge for a minimum of 30 minutes before attempting to power on. This allows the charge IC to push enough current into the cells to lift them above the BMS recovery threshold and re-enable the output circuit.

The SEP10s is showing a low battery alarm immediately after I charged it overnight — is the battery faulty?

This happens when the device BMS compares the new cell's impedance against its stored OEM cell profile and flags a mismatch, not an actual low charge. The pack is fully charged — the alarm is a first-cycle calibration issue. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle through the device before clinical use. After that cycle the BMS updates its reference and the alarm clears on subsequent charges.

The charge indicator on the SEP10s never reaches 100% with this new battery — it stops at around 80–90%.

The SEP10s charge IC applies a conservative charge termination limit when it detects unfamiliar cell impedance on a new pack. It is not under-charging — it is applying a safety ceiling until the cell's internal resistance settles. After the first full cycle, the charge IC recalibrates and the indicator reaches 100% normally. Do not interrupt the first charge cycle early.

The syringe pump is shutting off mid-use even though the battery showed adequate charge before starting.

New Ni-MH cells have higher internal resistance in their first 10 cycles, which causes voltage sag under the syringe pump's motor-drive load. The BMS reads the voltage drop as a low-cell event and triggers a protective shutdown. This is not a defective pack — it is normal break-in behaviour. Run the battery through five to ten full charge-discharge cycles and the internal resistance will drop, eliminating the mid-use cutoff.
