Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

COMEN G50 / G60 / C50 / C60 Patient Monitor — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HYLB-1010)
This 14.4V 5200mAh (74.88Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the HYLB-1010 in COMEN G50, G60, C50, and C60 portable patient monitors. It restores mobile operation for vital signs monitoring during patient transport or when AC power is unavailable. The cell pack matches the original voltage rail, connector, and BMS communication protocol used across this monitor series.
- G50 / G60 / C50 / C60 platform compatibility: These four monitors share the same 14.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell pack covers the full group without adaptation or modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the G50 platform. The BMS completed voltage verification, accepted the charge IC handshake, and passed the monitor's internal self-test without triggering a battery fault code.
- First-use self-test protocol: After installing this battery, allow the monitor to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. COMEN monitors run BMS verification at startup — cutting power during this sequence logs a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
Why the COMEN G50 flags a battery fault after a confirmed full charge
The G50's charge IC applies a conservative acceptance threshold on new cells. A freshly installed pack that has not completed one full charge-discharge cycle may not meet the internal SoC verification window the monitor expects. The BMS logs this as a fault rather than a low-charge warning. Running one complete charge cycle — from below 10% to 100% — calibrates the SoC register and clears the flag on the next boot.
Monitor will not power on after battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the pack voltage drops below approximately 10V total (around 2.5V per cell), the COMEN BMS enters a protection lockout and blocks discharge to the monitor. The device shows no response — no boot screen, no alarm. Connect the original COMEN charger and leave it for at least 60 minutes before attempting to power on; the charger applies a low-current recovery charge that brings the pack above the BMS re-enable threshold before normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions
The G50 is showing a low battery alarm immediately after I charged the replacement pack to full — why?
The COMEN G50's BMS runs a chemistry verification check at startup and compares the cell's state-of-charge signature against an expected profile. A new cell that has not completed its first full cycle does not yet match that profile, so the monitor raises the alarm even though the pack is fully charged. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle — discharge during normal use until the monitor warns low, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. The alarm clears after the BMS accepts the calibrated SoC reading.
The monitor powers on but shuts off unexpectedly during a patient exam — is the battery failing?
This happens most often in the first 10 cycles on a new pack. Medical monitors draw a variable load profile — peaks during SpO2 and NIBP readings stress new cells harder than steady-state use. The BMS trips the discharge protection relay when instantaneous voltage sag under load crosses its cutoff threshold, typically around 11V for a 14.4V pack. Condition the battery through several full cycles before relying on it for continuous clinical use; cell internal resistance drops and voltage sag narrows with each cycle.
The charge indicator on the G50 has been sitting at 99% for two hours — is the charger or battery faulty?
Neither is necessarily faulty. The COMEN charge IC applies a reduced top-off current on new cells and holds the pack at a conservative absorption voltage before declaring 100%. This can extend the final charge phase significantly on the first few cycles. Leave the charger connected — it will complete the cycle. If the indicator still does not advance to 100% after a full second charge attempt, check that the dock contacts are clean and making solid contact with the battery terminals, as resistance at that junction causes the charge IC to throttle current and stall the cycle.
