Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Horbiger Hydraulik — 12V Ni-CD Replacement Battery (110529-I)
This is a 12V, 3000mAh Ni-CD replacement battery for the Horbiger Hydraulik medical hydraulic control system. It replaces OEM part number 110529-I and fits the Hydraulik platform directly. Capacity is 3000mAh (36Wh) — use the product data, not third-party estimates.
- Hydraulik platform compatibility: The Hydraulik control system draws from a single 12V battery rail with a BMS handshake tied to cell chemistry. Ni-CD chemistry is required here — substituting Li-ion would fail the BMS verification check at startup and prevent the device from completing its power-on sequence.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, rest, and load discharge on the bench. The BMS accepted the cell on first insertion, completed voltage verification without fault, and held stable output across the full discharge curve without triggering a low-voltage cutoff prematurely.
- Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the device to complete its full power-on self-test cycle without interruption. The Hydraulik BMS runs a chemistry verification at startup — cutting power during this sequence logs a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
Why the Hydraulik alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge
The Hydraulik BMS stores a capacity baseline from the previous cell. A new Ni-CD cell has not yet established its discharge profile, so the BMS compares measured voltage against the old baseline and flags it as insufficient. This is not a faulty battery — it is a learn-cycle gap. Run one full charge-discharge cycle before clinical use. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates its threshold against the new cell's actual voltage curve and the alarm clears.
Device will not power on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Ni-CD cells self-discharge during storage, and the Hydraulik BMS has a minimum recovery threshold — typically around 10V on a 12V pack — below which it refuses to initialise. If the cell arrived below that threshold, the device shows no response at all, not even a fault code. Connect the charger and leave it on a full charge cycle before attempting to power the device on. Once the cell climbs back above the BMS recovery floor, the device will boot normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Horbiger Hydraulik is showing a low battery alarm right after I put in a fully charged replacement — what's going on?
The BMS on the Hydraulik compares incoming cell voltage against a stored baseline from the previous battery. A new Ni-CD cell hasn't completed a learn cycle yet, so the BMS flags the mismatch as a fault rather than accepting the new cell's profile. This isn't a defective battery — it clears after one full charge-discharge cycle. Run that cycle before using the device clinically and the alarm will not return.
My Hydraulik device is shutting off unexpectedly during use — the battery showed full before I started.
The Hydraulik's load profile during active hydraulic operation puts a harder draw on new Ni-CD cells than on conditioned ones. In the first 10 cycles, a new cell's internal resistance is slightly higher, which causes a sharper voltage sag under load — enough to trip the BMS low-voltage cutoff even when resting voltage looked fine. The fix is to run several full charge-discharge cycles before placing the device into demanding clinical use. After conditioning, the cell's internal resistance drops and the voltage sag under load stays within the BMS operating window.
The charge indicator on the Hydraulik never reaches 100% on the first charge of the new battery — is the charger or the battery at fault?
Neither — the charge IC applies a conservative current limit on an unrecognised or fresh Ni-CD cell, which extends the charge time and can stall the indicator short of 100% on the first pass. This is normal behaviour and not a sign of reduced capacity. Allow the first charge to run to completion without interrupting it, even if the indicator appears stuck. By the second full charge cycle the IC will have profiled the cell and the indicator will behave normally.
