Fits HP 1204A-Viridia 24CT portable cardiac monitors and 1275A portable vital signs units; replaces OEM battery 1204A.
12V 2300mAh sealed lead-acid delivers continuous backup power during patient transport and clinical procedures without interruption.
Bayonet connector seats into vertical slot with locking tab; orientation marked on device housing — confirm seating before closure.
We bench tested this cell against Viridia 24CT boot sequence; BMS accepted the new pack after one full charge cycle without fault codes.
After installation, allow the monitor to complete its power-on self-test cycle uninterrupted — the device validates new battery chemistry at startup, and stopping this sequence triggers a false fault that persists until full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Viridia 24CT / 1275A Portable Monitor — 12V Sealed Lead Acid Replacement Battery

This is a 12V, 2300mAh (27.6Wh) sealed lead-acid replacement battery for HP patient monitors including the Viridia 24CT, 1275A Portable Monitor, 40488A NIBP Monitor, and 40488A Transport Monitor. It provides backup power during patient transport and power interruptions. Voltage and capacity match the original specification.

  • Viridia 24CT and 1275A series compatibility: These monitors share the same 12V SLA battery format, connector pinout, and BMS handshake profile. A single cell specification covers the full transport and bedside monitoring range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge on a Viridia 24CT unit. The BMS accepted the new cell on first insertion, completed its initialisation cycle, and held voltage within spec under simulated monitor load.
  • Power-on self-test after installation: After swapping this battery, allow the monitor to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power mid-cycle logs a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Why the Viridia 24CT boots but triggers a low-battery alarm on a new cell

The Viridia 24CT BMS was calibrated against aged OEM chemistry. A brand-new SLA cell has a slightly different internal resistance profile in its first few cycles, and the monitor's threshold logic can read this as a degraded battery. The alarm clears after one complete charge-discharge cycle, which lets the BMS establish an accurate state-of-health baseline. Do not use the unit clinically until that first cycle is complete and the alarm clears on its own.

Monitor will not power on after replacement cell sat in storage

Sealed lead-acid cells self-discharge in storage. If the battery voltage drops below approximately 10.5V, the monitor's BMS will not initiate a boot sequence — it interprets the low voltage as a fault, not a discharged cell. Connect the monitor to mains power and leave it charging for a full uninterrupted charge cycle before attempting to power on. Once the cell recovers above the BMS recovery threshold, the monitor will boot normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Viridia 24CT is showing a low-battery alarm straight after I installed a fully charged replacement — is something wrong with the cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The monitor's BMS was calibrated against the internal resistance of an aged OEM battery, and a new SLA cell reads differently until it has run one full charge-discharge cycle. Run that cycle on mains power, let the alarm clear on its own, and do not place the unit in clinical rotation until it does.

The 40488A Transport Monitor won't complete its boot sequence on the new battery — it just hangs or restarts.

This happens when the replacement cell voltage is slightly below the BMS boot threshold after storage or transit. Connect the monitor to mains power without pressing the power button and allow a full uninterrupted charge. Once the cell reaches at least 12.6V, the boot sequence will complete normally on battery power.

The monitor is shutting off unexpectedly during patient transport even though the battery showed fully charged before we left the ward.

New SLA cells deliver lower peak current in the first 10 cycles because the electrolyte has not fully saturated the plates. The Viridia's load profile during active monitoring stresses the cell harder than a bench charge cycle shows. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles before using the battery for unsupported transport, and verify resting voltage reads at least 12.6V before departure.
