Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Integra 8 Channel VIAFLO / VOYAGER Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (4205)
This 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion cell replaces OEM part 4205 in the Integra VIAFLO and VOYAGER series of automated electronic pipettes. It fits the 12 Channel VIAFLO, 12 Channel VOYAGER, 16 Channel VIAFLO, 4 Channel VOYAGER, and 36 additional configurations in the same family. Voltage and capacity match the original cell exactly.
- VIAFLO and VOYAGER platform compatibility: These instruments share a common battery footprint, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol across the 4, 8, 12, and 16 channel variants. One cell specification covers the full range because Integra standardised the power rail across this product family.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on compatible hardware and confirmed the BMS handshake completes without fault codes. The protection circuit trips at the correct over-discharge threshold and recovers cleanly on reconnect to charge.
- Post-swap self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the VIAFLO or VOYAGER to complete its full power-on self-test cycle without interruption. The device runs BMS verification at startup — cutting power during this sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
Why the VIAFLO reports a battery fault on a new cell that just came off the charger
The VIAFLO's BMS evaluates internal resistance and charge acceptance against thresholds calibrated to a fully conditioned OEM cell. A new Li-ion cell straight from storage has not yet settled — its internal resistance reads slightly high and its charge curve looks different from a broken-in cell. The instrument interprets this as a degraded or non-compliant battery and raises a fault. One full charge-discharge cycle normalises the cell's electrochemical behaviour, and the fault clears on the next startup.
Charge indicator stalling below 100% on first charge
On the first charge, the VIAFLO's charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it detects a cell that has not yet established a charge history. This causes the indicator to plateau at 85–95% and appear stuck. The cell is not faulty — the charge controller is running a cautious initial top-up rather than a full constant-voltage phase. Allow the device to remain on charge past the apparent plateau; the indicator will advance to 100% once the charge IC confirms the cell voltage has held steady at 4.2V for the required dwell period.

Frequently Asked Questions
The VIAFLO is alarming low battery immediately after I put in a freshly charged replacement — what's happening?
The BMS threshold for the low-battery alarm is calibrated against a conditioned cell's charge profile. A new cell straight from its first charge has a slightly different internal resistance and voltage curve, so the instrument treats it as below threshold even when it is fully charged. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on the device, then recharge fully. The alarm will not trigger once the cell's profile falls within the BMS acceptance window.
My VIAFLO won't power on at all after the battery sat unused for several weeks — is the cell dead?
Self-discharge during storage can pull a Li-ion cell below the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 2.5V, at which point the protection circuit locks out to prevent damage. The cell is not dead — it needs a slow recovery charge. Place the battery in the VIAFLO on charge and leave it connected for at least two hours without attempting to power the device on; the charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it clears the recovery threshold, after which normal charging resumes.
The VIAFLO is shutting off unexpectedly mid-use even though the battery indicator shows a reasonable charge level — why?
In the first 10 cycles, a new Li-ion cell has not yet reached its full charge-delivery capacity, and the VIAFLO's motor-drive and aspiration steps create brief high-current draws that can cause the cell voltage to sag below the BMS cutoff threshold under load — even when the resting voltage looks acceptable. The device cuts out at this sag point, not at true depletion. Complete five to ten full charge-discharge cycles before relying on this battery in uninterrupted workflows; the voltage sag under load reduces significantly once the cell is broken in.
