Almost certainly not. Run one full charge-to-discharge-to-charge cycle before treating this as a defect. After that cycle the BMS recalibrates its reference and the alarm behaviour normalises.

The ventilator shuts off unexpectedly during use in the first week — what's happening?

New Li-ion cells have slightly higher internal resistance in the first 5–10 cycles, which causes a steeper voltage sag under the Trilogy 202's continuous load profile. The BMS interprets that sag as a low-cell-voltage event and cuts output to protect the pack — even if state of charge is still high. This self-corrects as the cells break in. Avoid running the pack fully flat in those first cycles; stop use when the first low-battery warning appears and recharge immediately.

The charge indicator stops advancing well below 100% on the first charge — should I be concerned?

No. The Trilogy 202 charge IC applies a conservative current limit on cells it hasn't profiled yet, which makes early charges appear to stall. The pack is still accepting charge — the indicator just doesn't reflect it accurately until the first full cycle completes. Leave the battery on charge until the charger signals completion regardless of what the indicator shows, then discharge fully and recharge once more. After that second full charge the indicator tracks accurately.
