Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Tunstall Lifeline Vi / Vi+ — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (B0201B)
This is a 7.2V 1500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Tunstall Lifeline Vi and Lifeline Vi+ personal emergency response devices. It matches the OEM part number B0201B and fits the wearable alarm unit used by elderly and vulnerable individuals to contact monitoring centres. Voltage, capacity, and connector are matched to the original cell specification.
- Lifeline Vi and Vi+ compatibility: Both the Vi and Vi+ share the same 7.2V battery rail, B0201B connector layout, and BMS handshake protocol, which is why a single cell fits both variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Lifeline Vi's charge circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell, completed its verification handshake, and cleared the low-battery flag after one full charge cycle.
- Post-swap self-test completion: After installing this battery, allow the Lifeline Vi to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification routine at startup — cutting power during this sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
Low battery alarm persisting after a confirmed full charge on the Lifeline Vi
The Lifeline Vi's BMS uses a charge threshold calibrated to the OEM cell's established capacity profile. A new Ni-MH cell has not yet built its internal reference baseline, so the BMS may flag it as undercharged even when the charger shows complete. This is not a fault with the cell. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle and the BMS will update its internal threshold to match the new cell's actual capacity curve, clearing the alarm.
Lifeline Vi will not power on after the replacement battery has been in storage
Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage at roughly 1–2% per day under typical conditions. If the cell voltage has dropped below the Lifeline Vi's BMS recovery threshold — approximately 5.4V for a 7.2V pack — the device will not boot and shows no response to the button or charger. Connect the device to its mains charger and leave it undisturbed for a minimum of 30 minutes. The charge IC applies a low-current recovery trickle first, and once the pack voltage climbs above the BMS floor the device will resume normal charging and boot correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Lifeline Vi alarm keeps beeping "low battery" even though I just charged it overnight with the new battery installed — is the battery faulty?
It is not faulty. The Lifeline Vi's BMS holds a capacity threshold built from the previous cell's charge history, and a fresh Ni-MH cell hasn't yet established a matching baseline. The BMS reads the new cell as insufficient even when it is fully charged. Run one complete charge-to-discharge-to-full-charge cycle and the BMS will recalibrate its threshold to the new cell — the alarm clears after that first conditioning cycle.
The Lifeline Vi shuts off on its own a few days after fitting the new battery — it's not a low battery alarm, it just cuts out.
New Ni-MH cells run hotter and sag more under load during their first 10 cycles because the cell chemistry hasn't fully formed. The Lifeline Vi's load profile during an active alert transmission is more demanding than standby, and the BMS trips the thermal or voltage-sag cutoff on an unformed cell under that burst load. This settles after the cell completes several full cycles. Charge the battery fully, allow the device to complete its self-test, and avoid triggering a live alert transmission during the first three charge cycles while the cell stabilises — check that resting voltage reads above 7.0V before active use.
The charge indicator on the Lifeline Vi base unit never reaches 100% on the first charge — it stops at around 80% and stays there.
The Lifeline Vi's charge IC applies a conservative upper limit on an unrecognised cell to prevent overcharge on a new or unknown Ni-MH pack. This is a deliberate protection step, not a fault. Discharge the device gently through normal standby use until the low indicator appears, then charge it back to full without interruption. After this first full cycle the charge IC registers the cell's actual capacity and the indicator will reach 100% on subsequent charges.
