Fits Clear Hotspot Spot 4G, Apollo 4G with OEM part number GT-2200 or 110-200-0018R.
Output 3.7V nominal voltage and 2100mAh capacity—this lithium-ion cell restores full wireless session duration on the Spot 4G.
Connector slides into the battery bay with positive contact centered; locking tab engages on the left side of the slot.
We tested full charge cycles on a bench Spot 4G unit; BMS accepted the cell without fault codes and held voltage under sustained WiFi load.
When running multiple connected devices in poor signal areas, the cellular modem draws peak current that causes faster drain than rated—keep the hotspot ventilated during extended sessions.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Clear Hotspot Spot 4G / Apollo 4G — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (GT-2200)

This 3.7V 2100mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM part GT-2200 (also listed as 110-200-0018R) in the Clear Hotspot Spot 4G, Apollo 4G, and Hotspot 4G Apollo. These are compact portable Wi-Fi hotspot devices that share the same battery bay and connector. Capacity is 7.77Wh — identical to the original specification.

  • Spot 4G and Apollo 4G shared battery platform: Both the Spot 4G and Apollo 4G variants use the same 3.7V cell, connector pinout, and BMS handshake — the hardware is nearly identical under the lid, which is why Clear used one battery SKU across the range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles with the hotspot active under a four-device Wi-Fi load. The BMS reported clean state-of-charge data to the firmware, and no low-voltage cutoff trips occurred during normal draw.
  • Ventilation during active sessions: Keep the hotspot on a hard, open surface when running extended sessions. When connected devices are far from the unit, the cellular radio ramps to full output power — that sustained RF load generates heat that sits directly against the battery if airflow is blocked.

Why the Spot 4G drops connected devices mid-session on a new battery

When all four Wi-Fi client slots are active and the cellular signal is weak, the modem and Wi-Fi radio draw power simultaneously at close to peak load. A cell with any internal resistance — even a new one that hasn't been fully conditioned — can sag below the BMS cutoff threshold under that combined spike. The hotspot firmware interprets this as a low-battery event and resets the radio stack, dropping all clients. Running the first two charge cycles without a heavy device load lets the cell stabilise its internal resistance before full deployment.

Hotspot shows a charge level but won't boot after sitting unused

After several weeks in storage, the cell can self-discharge below the minimum boot voltage — typically under 3.0V for this chemistry. The device may show a low battery icon or nothing at all, even though the battery isn't physically dead. Plug the hotspot into a USB wall charger rated at least 1A and leave it connected for 30–45 minutes before attempting to power on. If the device still won't boot, check the charging port and cable — the BMS needs a sustained input above 4.0V to re-initialise from deep discharge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Clear Spot 4G keeps kicking devices off Wi-Fi every few minutes — is the new battery causing this?

Yes, this is a voltage sag issue under peak combined load. When four devices are connected and the cellular signal is marginal, the modem and Wi-Fi radio pull power at the same time, momentarily dragging the cell voltage below the BMS trip point. The hotspot resets its radio stack and all clients disconnect. Reduce active connected devices to two or three until the cell completes its first few full charge cycles, which lowers internal resistance and stabilises the sag.

The battery drains noticeably faster when I'm in a poor signal area — is something wrong with the cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. In a weak signal area, the cellular modem continuously ramps to maximum transmit power trying to hold the connection — this is the single largest power draw on the device, and it can run two to three times higher than in a strong-signal area. The 2100mAh rating reflects capacity under normal draw, not maximum radio output. Move the hotspot closer to a window or elevated position to improve signal, and the drain rate will drop immediately.

My Clear Spot 4G won't turn on after the replacement battery sat in the device for a few weeks without use.

Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month, but the BMS itself draws a small standby current that accelerates depletion when the device is off but the battery is installed. If the cell drops below approximately 3.0V, the hotspot firmware won't boot. Connect the device to a 1A or higher USB wall charger and leave it for at least 40 minutes before pressing the power button — the BMS needs time to accept trickle charge and recover enough voltage to re-initialise.
