Fits Netgear R526, R526A, R536 hotspots; replaces OEM part YSQ2010KB001861.
3.7V, 1450mAh lithium-ion cell delivers rated capacity for extended WiFi sessions without mid-stream drops.
Connector slides into the battery bay with a positive terminal contact and mechanical locking tab.
We bench-tested this cell in an R526 under dual WiFi and cellular load; the BMS held steady voltage across the runtime window.
If the hotspot disconnects users after a battery swap, power down completely, reseat the battery connector, and restart — the cellular modem needs a clean handshake cycle with the new cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Generic R526 / R526A / R536 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (YSQ2010KB001861)

This is a 3.7V, 1450mAh Li-ion battery for the Netgear R526, R526A, and R536 mobile hotspots. It replaces OEM part numbers YSQ2010KB001861 and YSQ2010. If your hotspot shuts down unexpectedly, fails to power on, or no longer holds a charge through a normal session, this is the direct swap.

  • R526 / R526A / R536 fit: All three models run the same 3.7V cell with an identical footprint — 53.70 × 39.30 × 6.70mm — and share the same connector and BMS handshake. Swapping between these variants does not require a different battery.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell under combined modem and Wi-Fi load. The BMS held cutoff within spec at both the low-voltage floor and the charge termination ceiling. No phantom shutdowns appeared during the discharge curve.
  • Cellular radio heat management: Keep the hotspot on a hard, flat surface during long sessions. When connected devices are at the edge of range, the cellular radio runs at peak output continuously — heat concentrates at the cell and shortens cycle life faster than heavy data throughput alone.

Hotspot disconnecting users mid-session on a new battery

When the R526 is serving the maximum number of connected devices, the combined modem and Wi-Fi radio draw spikes well above the idle current. If the cell voltage sags under that load, the BMS triggers a protective cutoff before the battery percentage reads zero. The hotspot reboots, drops all clients, and reconnects — users see it as a random dropout. A fresh cell with a full charge cycle stabilises the voltage rail under load and eliminates most of these mid-session cuts.

R526 not powering on after sitting unused for several weeks

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the R526 sat long enough for the cell to drop below roughly 2.5V, the BMS locks out normal charging to protect the cell from damage. The hotspot shows no charge indicator and will not boot. Connect it to the original charger and leave it for 30–60 minutes — most BMS circuits include a trickle pre-charge mode that recovers cells in this range. If the charge LED does not appear within an hour, the original cell has dropped below the recovery threshold and replacement is the next step.

Frequently Asked Questions

My R526 shows 40% battery but the hotspot keeps cutting out — why?

At 40% charge, the cell voltage is still healthy at rest, but combined modem and Wi-Fi radio draw causes a momentary voltage sag that the BMS reads as a fault. This is more pronounced when several devices are connected simultaneously or when the hotspot is working in a low-signal area where the cellular radio runs at maximum power. The cutoff is protective, not a defect in the battery. Run the hotspot through one full charge-to-empty cycle to let the BMS recalibrate its state-of-charge tracking.

Battery drains significantly faster with five devices connected versus two — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong — this is expected behaviour on the R526. Each additional connected device increases the Wi-Fi radio duty cycle, and the cellular modem scales its transmit power based on total throughput demand. At five devices in active use, the combined draw can be two to three times the idle current. Poor cellular signal compounds this further because the modem holds its transmit amplifier at peak output continuously. Reduce active connections or move the hotspot closer to a window to lower radio output power and slow the discharge rate.

My R526 worked fine yesterday, now it won't turn on even though it was plugged in overnight — what happened?

If the original battery had degraded to the point where it could no longer accept a charge, the hotspot would show a charging indicator without actually recovering cell voltage. By morning the device has no usable charge left and won't boot. Fit the replacement cell, then connect the charger — the charge LED should appear within two minutes. If the LED is solid and the hotspot boots normally after 15 minutes on charge, the original cell was the failure point.
