Fits Verizon Jetpack AC791L; replaces OEM part W-9, 308-10013-01, W-9B.
3.8V 4300mAh Li-ion cell restores full power capacity to aging hotspots; this Jetpack draws steady current across Wi-Fi and cellular simultaneously.
Connector slides into the battery slot with a positive contact plate; locking tab secures flush against the device housing.
Bench testing on AC791L load simulation showed stable voltage delivery under combined modem and Wi-Fi broadcast draw; BMS engaged protection at expected limits.
Keep the hotspot in a well-ventilated location during extended sessions — cellular radio operates at maximum output power when devices are far away, generating significant heat that stresses the battery.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Verizon Jetpack AC791L — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (W-9)

This 3.8V, 4300mAh Li-ion battery fits the Verizon Jetpack AC791L mobile hotspot. It replaces OEM part numbers W-9, W-9B, and 308-10013-01. If your Jetpack shuts down unexpectedly or no longer holds a charge, this is a direct swap to restore full operation.

  • AC791L fit: The AC791L runs a combined LTE modem and multi-device Wi-Fi radio from a single cell. The BMS on this battery matches the charge termination voltage and communication protocol the device expects — no error flags on startup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through combined modem and Wi-Fi load on the AC791L. The BMS held stable at full multi-device draw and did not trip under the simultaneous radio output that typically stresses original cells.
  • Ventilation during extended sessions: When connected devices are far from the hotspot, the cellular radio runs at maximum output power to maintain signal. Place the AC791L on a hard, open surface — not inside a bag or pocket — during long sessions to prevent heat buildup from accelerating cell wear.

Why the AC791L drops connections mid-session under full device load

The AC791L runs its LTE modem and 802.11ac radio simultaneously from a single 3.8V cell. At maximum connected devices, combined draw spikes sharply — especially when the modem is compensating for weak signal. A degraded or aging cell cannot sustain voltage at that draw, and the BMS triggers a protective cutoff before the battery physically depletes. The hotspot loses power briefly, drops all connected clients, and reboots. A fresh cell with full capacity handles the spike without voltage sag triggering the cutoff.

AC791L won't boot after sitting unused for weeks

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the AC791L sat unpowered long enough, the battery may have dropped below the minimum boot voltage — typically under 3.0V for a 3.8V nominal cell. At that level, the device's BMS locks out charging as a safety measure and the hotspot appears completely dead. Connect it to the OEM charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — most BMS circuits enter a trickle pre-charge mode that recovers the cell back above the 3.0V threshold before allowing a normal charge cycle to begin.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Jetpack AC791L keeps kicking everyone off Wi-Fi even though the battery shows charged — what's happening?

This is voltage sag, not a charge level problem. When the LTE modem and Wi-Fi radio both run at peak output — typically when connected devices are numerous or the cellular signal is weak — current draw spikes and the battery voltage dips sharply. If the cell can't hold voltage above the BMS cutoff threshold at that load, the hotspot drops and reboots even with capacity remaining. A new 4300mAh cell maintains voltage through those peaks where a worn cell cannot.

The AC791L battery drains far faster when I'm in a low-signal area — is something wrong with the battery?

Nothing is wrong. In poor signal conditions, the LTE modem increases its transmit power to maintain a cell connection, which pulls significantly more current from the battery than normal operation. The AC791L has no setting to cap that radio output — the modem manages it automatically. Shorter use between charges in weak-signal areas is normal behavior, not a battery fault. If drain is severe even in strong signal with only one or two connected devices, check whether a background firmware update is running.

The AC791L gets noticeably warm during long hotspot sessions — could that damage the new battery?

Heat during extended sessions is expected on the AC791L because the cellular radio, Wi-Fi radio, and battery are all in a compact enclosure with no active cooling. The risk is sustained heat above 45°C, which accelerates capacity loss in Li-ion cells over time. Setting the hotspot flat on a hard surface rather than inside a case or fabric bag makes a meaningful difference in operating temperature. If the unit becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, reduce the number of connected devices or allow it to cool before continuing.
