Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alcatel OT-500 / OT-501 / OT-700 / OT-701 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 3.7V 900mAh Li-ion cell for the Alcatel OT-500, OT-501, OT-700, OT-701, and eight additional OT-series models that share the same battery bay and connector. It replaces the original cell when the phone no longer holds a usable charge through a normal day. Capacity is 900mAh (3.33Wh) — matching the factory specification.
- OT-500 and OT-700 platform compatibility: These models share a common battery footprint, connector pinout, and charge IC handshake across both the 500 and 700 sub-families. The cell slots into all listed variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on OT-series hardware. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake cleanly, held voltage above 3.5V under normal call and screen load, and hit the low-voltage cutoff without tripping an early protection event.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. The OT-series fuel gauge IC references the old cell's discharge curve — one complete cycle overwrites it with the new cell's profile.
Why the OT-500 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The OT-series uses a simple coulomb-counting fuel gauge that calibrates against the specific discharge curve of the installed cell. When you fit a new cell, the gauge still references the previous cell's learned curve. This mismatch causes the percentage to read high, then drop suddenly — not because the cell is faulty, but because the gauge has no valid reference data yet. One full discharge-to-cutoff followed by a complete uninterrupted charge resets the reference and restores accurate reporting.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under the load of an active call or backlight — a voltage cliff that the gauge reads as 20–30% remaining but the BMS reads as a protection threshold breach. On a new cell that hasn't been calibrated, the fuel gauge cannot predict this cliff accurately. The fix is the same full-cycle calibration: discharge completely to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100%. After that cycle, the gauge knows where the voltage cliff sits and the OS percentage will track it correctly, stopping the unexpected cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Alcatel OT-500 powers on with the new battery but the percentage jumps around erratically — is the cell faulty?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The OT-series fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the discharge curve of your old, degraded cell, and it has no valid data for the new one yet. The percentage jumping is the gauge trying to interpolate against the wrong curve. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% without interrupting — after that cycle the gauge recalibrates and the readings stabilise.
The phone doesn't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I fitted it — what's happening?
A Li-ion cell stored without use can self-discharge below 2.5V per cell, which triggers BMS lockout to prevent damage. The BMS will not pass current to the phone until the cell voltage is brought back into the safe window. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for at least 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC needs time to trickle current into the locked-out cell before the BMS releases. Once voltage climbs above approximately 3.0V, the BMS resets and the phone will boot normally.
The phone feels noticeably warm near the battery compartment for the first hour of charging — should I be worried?
Mild warmth on the first charge is normal with a new, high-impedance cell. A fresh Li-ion cell has higher internal resistance before the first few charge cycles condition the electrodes, and the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat as a result. The warmth should reduce noticeably after the first two or three full charge cycles as internal resistance drops. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or the warmth persists beyond the third cycle, remove the battery and check the contacts for debris or misalignment.
