Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BBK VIVO Y85 Series — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (B-D9)
This is a 3.85V, 3150mAh (12.13Wh) Li-Polymer battery carrying OEM part number B-D9. It fits the VIVO Y85, VIVO Y85A, VIVO Y85 Dual SIM, and VIVO Y85 Dual SIM TD-LTE. It replaces the original cell when the phone shows capacity fade, unexpected shutdowns, or refuses to hold a charge.
- VIVO Y85 variant compatibility: The Y85, Y85A, and both Dual SIM variants share the same battery bay dimensions and the same B-D9 connector pinout. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across these variants, so one cell covers the full range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Y85 unit and monitored the BMS communication. The protection circuit responded correctly to over-current and low-voltage cutoff thresholds, and the fuel gauge IC accepted the new cell's discharge curve without manual intervention after one full cycle.
- First-cycle fast charge behaviour: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell — preventing early low-percentage shutdowns.
Why the VIVO Y85 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Y85 uses a coulomb counter inside the fuel gauge IC that builds its percentage model from the previous cell's charge and discharge history. When a new cell goes in, that stored model no longer matches the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity curve. The IC is not recalibrated at the factory for replacement cells — it recalibrates itself across one full discharge and charge cycle. Until that cycle completes, the displayed percentage will read high, then drop suddenly as the IC corrects itself.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet mapped the new cell's voltage cliff — the point where cell voltage collapses rapidly under modem or screen load. The old cell's cliff profile sits at a different voltage than the new one, so the IC does not trigger a graceful shutdown in time. Run one full discharge down to automatic power-off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without fast charging enabled. After that cycle, the IC recalibrates its cutoff point and the shutdowns stop — the voltage floor for this cell sits at approximately 3.4V under load.

Frequently Asked Questions
My VIVO Y85 powers off by itself at around 25% after fitting the new battery — is the cell faulty?
The cell is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC is still using the old cell's voltage-discharge curve to predict percentage, and the new cell's voltage drops off faster under load at that charge level. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% with fast charging turned off. After that single calibration cycle, the shutdowns stop.
The phone is warm near the battery area during the first few charges — should I be concerned?
Mild warmth on the first few charges is normal with a new high-impedance Li-Polymer cell. The charge IC on the Y85 applies its standard constant-current phase to a cell whose internal resistance is slightly higher than a broken-in original, which generates more heat until the cell conditions over two or three cycles. If the phone gets hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, stop charging and check that no pins on the battery connector are bent or bridged — a misaligned connector causes abnormal charge current draw.
Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery — the phone only charges slowly now?
The Y85's proprietary fast charge protocol requires the BMS on the new cell to complete a full handshake with the charge IC before high-current charging is permitted. On the first cycle this handshake often fails or is intentionally withheld until the IC trusts the cell's impedance readings. Charge the phone once at standard speed to 100%, then unplug and reconnect — fast charging typically re-enables on the second connection once the charge IC has logged one complete cycle from the new cell.
