Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ERA MDA I — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (35H10008-80)

This is a 3.7V, 1700mAh lithium-polymer battery replacing OEM part 35H10008-80 in the HTC T-Mobile MDA I smartphone. It slots into the original battery bay and connects via the factory contact points. Capacity matches the original 6.29Wh rating.

  • MDA I platform fit: The MDA I uses a fixed 3.7V single-cell Li-Polymer architecture with a direct contact connector — no latch or keyed tab. This cell matches that contact layout and the BMS voltage window the device expects at startup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the MDA I charge IC and confirmed BMS handshake on first insertion. The cell accepted a full charge without the device flagging a battery error or refusing to boot.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging if available and run one complete discharge-charge cycle before daily use. The fuel gauge IC on the MDA I calibrates against the discharge curve it records on that first full cycle — skipping this leaves the percentage counter reading from stale data mapped to the old cell.

Why the MDA I reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The MDA I uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that builds its percentage model from accumulated charge and discharge data. That data is tied to the old cell's internal resistance and discharge curve. When a new cell goes in, the IC is still reading against the old model, so the percentage shown can be off by 10–20 points in either direction. One full discharge to auto-off, followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%, resets the reference curve. After that cycle, percentage readouts stabilise.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the MDA I

This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under load — typically when the modem transmits or the backlight spikes current draw. The BMS cuts power the moment cell voltage hits its lower protection threshold, even if the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. On a new cell, this usually points to an uncalibrated gauge rather than a faulty cell. Run the recalibration cycle described above; if shutdowns continue after that, check that the contact pins are seating flat — a high-resistance connection causes voltage sag that trips the BMS before the true cutoff of 3.0V per cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

The MDA I powers off by itself around 25% battery — is the replacement cell faulty?

Not necessarily. When the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, it misreads voltage under modem or screen load — the cell hits BMS cutoff before the displayed percentage reaches zero. Run one full discharge-to-auto-off followed by a complete uninterrupted charge. If the shutdowns stop after that cycle, the cell is fine. If they continue, reseat the battery and confirm the contact pins are flat against the terminals, since a poor connection causes enough voltage sag to trip the BMS prematurely.

My MDA I shows the battery jumping between percentages erratically right after fitting the new cell — what's happening?

The coulomb counter in the MDA I's fuel gauge IC is working from data it built around the original cell's impedance and capacity curve. A new cell has different internal resistance, so the IC overshoots and undershoots as it tries to reconcile live voltage readings against that stale model. This settles after one full discharge-charge cycle — drain the phone to auto-off, then charge it to 100% without interruption. The gauge locks onto the new curve from that point.

The phone won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — how do I recover it?

A Li-Polymer cell left uncharged for extended storage can drop below 2.5V per cell, which triggers BMS lockout — the protection circuit disconnects the cell to prevent damage and the phone sees no voltage at startup. Connect the MDA I to a charger and leave it untouched for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on; most chargers apply a low trickle current that slowly brings the cell above the BMS re-enable threshold of around 2.9V. If the screen shows a charging indicator after that period, let it reach at least 10% before booting.
