This is a 3.85V, 4200mAh (16.17Wh) Li-Polymer cell for the Google Pixel 7A smartphone. It replaces part number GP5JE, the original battery unit seated beneath the rear glass. Fit this when the existing cell no longer holds a useful charge or triggers unexpected shutdowns.

• Pixel 7A fitment: The Pixel 7A uses a specific connector orientation and a BMS that communicates charge state to the OS via a coulomb counter. The GP5JE cell matches the physical footprint at 91.90 × 47.00 × 5.50mm and carries the correct connector for that BMS handshake — no adapter needed.
• Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Pixel 7A unit. The BMS accepted the cell, the OS registered battery presence immediately, and the coulomb counter began tracking state of charge from the first cycle without tripping an over-voltage cutoff.
• First-cycle fast charge caution: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate its discharge curve against the new cell before high-current USB-PD charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state register.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Pixel 7A after a cell swap

The Pixel 7A's fuel gauge IC maps voltage to percentage using a discharge curve learned from the original cell. A new GP5JE cell has a slightly different internal resistance profile, so the IC misreads the actual remaining charge. Under modem or display load, the cell voltage dips below the shutdown threshold before the percentage counter reaches zero. One full slow discharge-charge cycle forces the IC to rewrite its stored curve against the new cell's actual behaviour.

USB-PD fast charge not activating on the first cycle after replacement

After fitting a new GP5JE, some units will not enter fast charge mode on the first charge attempt. The charge IC starts with a trickle current while it checks BMS response and cell voltage — this is normal behaviour, not a fault. Once the cell reaches approximately 3.0V and the BMS signals readiness, the charge IC steps up to full USB-PD current. If fast charge still does not activate after one full cycle, check that the USB-PD cable and charger are rated at 18W or higher and re-seat the battery connector.
