Fits Nokia 800 Tough smartphones (TA-1186, TA-1186/DS); replaces OEM part BPCNTBY001B and BV-5D.
3.8V 2100mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers 7.98Wh; matches original capacity for full-day operation.
Connector slides straight down into the battery slot; locking tab engages on both sides.
We bench-tested this cell on a TA-1186 unit; BMS accepted the pack on first charge with no fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nokia 800 Tough / TA-1186 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BPCNTBY001B)

This is a 3.8V, 2100mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Nokia 800 Tough rugged smartphone (models TA-1186 and TA-1186/DS). It replaces OEM part numbers BPCNTBY001B and BV-5D. The cell dimensions are 82.50 × 40.00 × 4.50mm — measure your original before ordering if you are unsure.

  • 800 Tough / TA-1186 compatibility: Both TA-1186 and TA-1186/DS share the same battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers both variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell in a TA-1186 unit and confirmed full BMS handshake, charge termination at 4.35V, and stable discharge under screen-on and modem-active load.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100% on standard current. This gives the coulomb counter a clean reference curve before high-current charging begins on the new cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Nokia 800 Tough

This is a voltage-cliff failure, not a capacity problem. At 20–30% state-of-charge, the cell voltage drops sharply under combined modem and display load — the BMS cuts power before the OS can log a low-battery event. The fuel gauge IC is still running its calibration curve from the old cell, so the percentage shown is inaccurate. One full discharge-to-shutdown cycle followed by a full charge resets the coulomb counter and resolves this on most units.

Phone won't power on after the battery sat in storage

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage. If the cell drops below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters a lockout state and blocks normal charging to prevent thermal runaway on a critically depleted cell. The phone will show no charge indicator and will not respond to a standard charger. Connect to a 5V USB source and leave it for 20–30 minutes — the charge IC applies a trickle current that brings the cell above the BMS recovery threshold, after which normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the Nokia 800 Tough showing the wrong battery percentage after I swapped the battery?

The fuel gauge IC inside the phone was calibrated to the discharge curve of the original cell. A new cell has a slightly different voltage-versus-capacity curve, so the reported percentage will be off until the counter resets. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without fast charging enabled. After that cycle, the coulomb counter has a clean reference and the percentage readout stabilises.

Fast charging stopped working on my Nokia 800 Tough after fitting the replacement battery — standard charging still works.

On the first charge cycle, the charge IC can reject the fast-charge protocol while it verifies the new cell's impedance and temperature response. This is a protective hold, not a fault. Charge once at standard speed to full, then reboot the phone and reconnect the charger — the charge IC re-negotiates the protocol with the now-baselined cell and fast charging resumes on the second cycle.

The Nokia 800 Tough feels warm near the battery area while charging — is that normal with a new cell?

A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC works slightly harder during the first few cycles — surface warmth is normal and temporary. We measured case temperature during bench charging and it stayed within Nokia's thermal envelope. If the phone becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, or charge stops before 100%, check that the replacement cell connector is fully seated, as a partial connection increases contact resistance and heat.
