Fits Realme Q5 and RMX3478 models, replacing OEM battery BLP965 directly.
Nominal voltage 3.87V at 4800mAh capacity delivers stable power to the processor and modem without mid-cycle sag.
Connector solders to the Realme Q5 board at a fixed right-angle tab; alignment must match the original cell slot exactly.
We ran discharge cycles at 1C and 2C rates; the BMS accepted USB-PD negotiation on cycle two and held regulated output to 3.2V floor.
On first charge after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before USB-PD pushes current into an uncalibrated BMS.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Realme Q5 / RMX3478 — 3.87V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BLP965)

The BLP965 is the OEM-matched lithium-polymer cell for the Realme Q5 (RMX3478) smartphone. It runs at 3.87V nominal and delivers 4800mAh (18.58Wh) of capacity. This battery fits the Q5 body cavity at 93.80 × 64.40 × 4.50mm with the original flex connector.

  • Q5 and RMX3478 platform fit: Both model designations refer to the same hardware board. The connector pinout, BMS handshake voltage, and charge-termination threshold are identical across both variants, so one cell covers the full Q5 line.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled the BLP965 through charge and discharge on the Q5 board. The BMS accepted the cell without triggering a thermal fault, and the charge IC reached full termination at 4.40V as expected for this platform.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: Disable fast charging for the first complete discharge-charge cycle after fitting this cell. The fuel gauge IC uses coulomb counting calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. One full slow cycle lets it reset against the new cell before high-current charging begins.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Realme Q5 after a cell swap

The Q5 fuel gauge IC holds a learned discharge curve from the previous cell. When the new BLP965 cell hits a voltage point the IC hasn't mapped yet, the system reads remaining capacity as zero and cuts power — even though charge is still present. This is not a faulty cell. Running one full discharge to shutdown and a complete slow charge resets the coulomb counter and maps the new cell's actual voltage cliff. After that cycle, shutdown behaviour returns to normal.

USB-PD fast charge not accepted on the first cycle after replacement

On first connection after fitting the BLP965, the charge IC may reject the fast-charge handshake and fall back to standard 5V charging. This happens because the BMS on a fresh cell starts conservative until it has confirmed cell impedance is within range. Charge the phone once at standard speed using the supplied cable and a basic 5W charger. On the second cycle, plug in the fast charger — the BMS will have cleared its initialisation flag and the full charge rate will resume.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Realme Q5 shuts off at around 25% after I put in the new BLP965 — is the battery bad?

The cell is not bad. The Q5 fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve it learned from your old, degraded cell. When the new BLP965 voltage drops to a point the IC hasn't seen before, it interprets it as empty and kills the phone. Run one full slow discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge completely without fast charging enabled. That single cycle resets the coulomb counter against the new cell and the early shutdown stops.

The phone feels warm near the battery area while charging the new cell — should I be worried?

A new Li-Polymer cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in one. The charge IC pushes the same current into higher resistance, which generates more heat on the first few cycles. We recorded this on the bench — surface temperature settled within normal range by the third charge cycle as impedance dropped. If warmth persists beyond five cycles or the phone is hot to the touch rather than warm, check that the charge port connection is fully seated and not arcing.

My Realme Q5 won't power on at all after the BLP965 sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it — what do I do?

Li-Polymer cells in storage self-discharge below 3.7V over time. If the BLP965 dropped below 2.5V per cell before installation, the BMS has entered lockout to prevent a damaging charge cycle and will not pass power to the board. Connect the phone to a standard 5W charger — not a fast charger — and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell at a safe rate until it crosses the 3.0V threshold, at which point the BMS unlocks and the phone will power on normally.
