Fits Samsung BlackJack II (SGH-i617) and replaces OEM part AB813851CA.
3.7V and 1200mAh capacity restores a full day of standby and talk time on this 2008 Windows Mobile device.
Connector is a two-pin slot interface with positive and negative contact alignment — slides straight into the battery door cavity.
We bench-tested this cell against the fuel gauge IC on the SGH-i617 platform; BMS accepted charge immediately and held voltage steady under modem load.
On first installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle without enabling any power-saving mode — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before the phone reports accurate percentage.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung BlackJack II / SGH-i617 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AB813851CA)

This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the Samsung BlackJack II (SGH-i617). It also fits the Stripe and DM-S105. OEM part numbers AB813851CA and AB813851CABSTD both cross-reference to this cell.

  • SGH-i617 / Stripe / DM-S105 compatibility: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.7V nominal voltage rail, and contact pad layout. The BMS handshake is identical across the group, so one cell covers all listed variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and load discharge on the SGH-i617. The BMS engaged correctly at the low-voltage cutoff, and charge termination fired cleanly at full capacity — no runaway or premature cutoff observed.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown before recharging. The BlackJack II's fuel gauge IC is calibrated to a specific discharge curve — skipping this step leaves the coulomb counter reading against the old cell's curve, which causes percentage jumps and early shutdown warnings.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the BlackJack II after a cell swap

The SGH-i617 runs Windows Mobile with an active radio stack. When the modem transmits, it pulls a short, sharp current spike. A new cell with a slightly different internal resistance profile can drop below the BMS cutoff voltage during that spike — even when the fuel gauge still shows 20–30% remaining. This is a voltage cliff, not a capacity fault. The fix is one full calibration cycle: discharge to shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle, the fuel gauge IC maps the new cell's actual voltage curve and the phantom shutdowns stop.

BlackJack II not powering on after the battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells discharged below approximately 2.5V trigger a BMS lockout — the protection circuit disconnects the cell to prevent damage, and the phone shows no response to the power button. Connect the phone to a wall charger, not a PC USB port, and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell up from the lockout threshold. Once the cell climbs above roughly 3.0V, the BMS re-initialises and the phone boots normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BlackJack II shows 25% battery and then shuts off without warning — is the new cell faulty?

The cell is likely fine. The SGH-i617's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to your original cell's discharge curve, and after a swap it reads the new cell's voltage incorrectly. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single cycle lets the coulomb counter recalibrate against the new cell, and the cutoff at 20–30% stops.

The BlackJack II battery percentage keeps jumping around erratically after I fitted the replacement — what's causing it?

Erratic percentage readings mean the fuel gauge IC is still referencing the old cell's impedance and discharge curve. It hasn't completed a full learning cycle on the new cell yet. Let the phone discharge fully to automatic shutdown once, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that cycle, the fuel gauge stabilises and the jumping stops.

My BlackJack II won't turn on at all after the replacement battery was stored in the phone for a few weeks without charging — how do I recover it?

If the cell dropped below approximately 2.5V in storage, the BMS locked the circuit out to protect the cell. Plug the phone into a wall charger and leave it untouched for at least 15 minutes — do not use a PC USB port, as the trickle current is too low to recover a locked-out cell reliably. Once the cell voltage climbs back above 3.0V, the BMS resets and the phone powers on normally.
