Fits UTStarcom CDM-7126 and CDM-7126m mobile phones; replaces OEM battery CS-AU7126SL.
3.7V, 800mAh lithium-ion cell delivers rated capacity for full call and messaging cycles on GSM networks.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We bench-tested this cell in a CDM-7126m; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion and fuel gauge showed accurate discharge tracking through a complete cycle.
On first use after installation, run one full discharge-charge cycle without removing the battery — the fuel gauge IC in this phone needs baseline data from the new cell before regular operation.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

UTStarcom CDM-7126 / CDM-7126m — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V, 800mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the UTStarcom CDM-7126 and CDM-7126m mobile phones. Both models share the same battery bay dimensions and connector, so one cell covers either variant. Capacity figures here come from product data — 2.96Wh total energy.

  • CDM-7126 and CDM-7126m compatibility: Both variants use the same 54.09 × 34.88 × 4.40mm footprint and the same connector pinout. The BMS voltage rails match across both production runs, so no modification is needed when fitting this cell to either model.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the CDM-7126 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without flag errors, and the charge IC completed a full CC/CV cycle without interruption.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: After fitting this cell, run the phone down to auto-shutdown on normal use, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before unplugging. The CDM-7126's fuel gauge IC calibrates its coulomb counter against the actual discharge curve of the new cell — skipping this step causes the percentage display to drift or read incorrectly for several subsequent cycles.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the CDM-7126 after a cell swap

A fresh Li-ion cell has a slightly different voltage-discharge curve than the aged cell it replaces. The CDM-7126's fuel gauge IC still holds the old curve in memory, so it miscalculates remaining capacity. Under any load spike — an incoming call, a screen wake — the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold before the gauge expects it. The phone shuts down even though the display showed charge remaining. One full recalibration cycle — full discharge to auto-shutdown, then a full uninterrupted charge — overwrites the old curve and resolves this.

Phone shows 0% and won't power on after sitting unused for months

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the CDM-7126 sat with its original battery inside for an extended period, the cell voltage may have dropped below 2.5V — the point at which the BMS locks out to prevent damage. The phone won't respond to a power button press and may not show any charging indicator when plugged in. Connect the phone to a wall charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything; the charge IC trickle-charges at low current to bring the cell back above the 2.8V recovery threshold before normal charging resumes. If no indicator appears after 45 minutes, the cell is below recoverable voltage and the replacement cell in this listing is the correct next step.

Frequently Asked Questions

My CDM-7126 battery percentage jumps around erratically after I put in a new cell — is the phone broken?

The phone is not broken. The fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve it learned from the old cell, so its percentage estimates are inaccurate against the new cell's actual voltage behaviour. Run the phone down to auto-shutdown on normal use, then charge it fully to 100% in one uninterrupted session. After that single full cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates and the percentage display stabilises.

The CDM-7126 feels noticeably warm near the battery compartment while charging — is that normal with a replacement cell?

Some warmth is expected on the first few charge cycles. A new cell has higher internal impedance than a well-cycled one, so the charge IC dissipates slightly more energy as heat during the constant-current phase. If the phone is warm to the touch but not hot, this settles after two or three full cycles as the cell's impedance drops. If the back becomes too hot to hold comfortably, stop charging and check that the battery contacts are seated flush — a misaligned contact raises resistance and heat at the connection point.

The CDM-7126 cuts out suddenly under load even when the replacement battery shows charge remaining — what's causing that?

This is a voltage sag problem, not a capacity problem. Under a sudden current draw — an incoming call ringing, the backlight activating — the cell voltage drops sharply for a fraction of a second. If the fuel gauge IC hasn't yet recalibrated to the new cell's curve, it reads that momentary sag as a depleted cell and the BMS trips a protective shutdown. Complete one full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%; this gives the fuel gauge IC the data it needs to set an accurate low-voltage cutoff point for the new cell.
