Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Pantech Jest TXT8040 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTR-8030)

This 3.7V, 800mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Pantech Jest TXT8040 and Razzle Jest series. It also covers OEM part numbers BTR-8030B, TXT8030, and BTR8045B. If your original cell no longer holds charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly, this is the direct swap.

  • Jest TXT8040 and Razzle Jest compatibility: These models share the same voltage rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The physical footprint — 51.80 x 37.60 x 4.70mm — matches the battery bay exactly, so no modifications are needed during installation.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Jest platform. The BMS accepted the handshake without fault codes, and charge termination triggered correctly at full capacity.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, run one complete discharge to near-empty before recharging fully. The Jest's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve — a full cycle against the new cell lets it reset that baseline for accurate percentage readings.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Jest TXT8040

This is a voltage-cliff failure. At 20–30% reported charge, the new cell's voltage drops faster than the phone's fuel gauge expects under load from the screen or radio module. The phone interprets this as a fatal undervoltage condition and shuts down rather than browning out the display. The fix is one complete discharge-charge cycle so the coulomb counter maps the actual discharge curve of the new cell. After that cycle, the reported percentage should align with real remaining capacity.

Phone showing wrong battery percentage after cell swap

The Jest's fuel gauge IC stores a discharge model built around the original cell's internal resistance and capacity curve. A new cell has different characteristics, so the IC reports inaccurate percentages — often jumping erratically or reading full charge well before the cell is actually topped up. Run the phone from 100% down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This single full cycle forces the IC to recalibrate against the new cell. Percentage readings stabilise at 4.2V full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Pantech Jest TXT8040 won't turn on after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the battery dead?

Probably not dead, but the BMS has locked out. If the cell voltage dropped below 2.5V during storage, the battery management system trips a protection latch to prevent damage. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell before the BMS will release the latch and allow normal startup. If the charging indicator appears and then the phone boots, the cell has recovered.

The Jest is warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges — is that a fault with this cell?

Not a fault. A fresh high-impedance cell accepts current less efficiently on early cycles, so the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat than it would on a broken-in cell. Surface warmth during charging is normal for the first two or three cycles as internal resistance drops. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or charging stops and restarts repeatedly, check that the battery contacts are clean and seated flat — a misaligned contact raises resistance further and increases heat.

After installing the replacement, the percentage jumps from 60% straight to 15% and then back up — what's happening?

The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating. It's running an old discharge model built for the previous cell, and when voltage drops faster than expected under modem or screen load, the counter corrects sharply downward. Run one complete uninterrupted discharge — use the phone normally until it shuts itself off — then charge to 100% without interruption. That single full cycle gives the coulomb counter enough data to rebuild its model against the new cell's actual curve, and the percentage jumps will stop.
