Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro / Redmi A2 — 3.82V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BN5F)
This is a 3.82V, 5000mAh Li-Polymer battery built to the BN5F specification. It fits the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro (23028RN4DG), Redmi A2, and the 23026RN54G variant. Capacity is 5000mAh (19.1Wh), matching the original cell specification.
- Cross-model fit — 23028RN4DG, Redmi A2, 23026RN54G: These three models share the same BN5F cell footprint, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The 3.82V nominal rail and NTC thermistor wiring are identical across all three, so one cell serves the entire group without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on Redmi Note 12 Pro hardware. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake cleanly, thermistor readings stayed within spec, and the fuel gauge IC tracked state-of-charge without reporting errors.
- First-cycle fast charge protocol: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging pushes into an uncalibrated coulomb counter.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the BN5F replacement cell
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity defect. Under peak load — 5G modem polling, a bright screen, and background sync hitting simultaneously — the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC predicts. The IC was calibrated against the old, degraded cell curve, so its 20–30% estimate is wrong; the actual cell voltage has already fallen below the BMS cutoff threshold. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by a full charge corrects the coulomb counter and eliminates most of these events.
OS reporting wrong percentage after cell swap
The Redmi fuel gauge IC stores learned discharge data from the original cell in non-volatile memory. When the BN5F replacement goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity relationship. The phone reads the voltage correctly but maps it to the wrong percentage. Run one complete discharge from 100% to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this forces the IC to rewrite its reference curve against the new cell and restores accurate percentage reporting.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Redmi Note 12 Pro won't turn on at all after the BN5F replacement sat in a drawer for months — is the battery dead?
Likely not dead — the BMS has gone into lockout because the cell self-discharged below 2.5V per cell during storage. Connect the phone to a wall charger (not a PC port) and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. Once the charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the lockout threshold, the BMS re-initialises and the phone will power on normally.
Fast charging stopped working the moment I put in the new BN5F — the phone only charges slowly now.
This is a common first-cycle behaviour. The phone's USB-PD and Xiaomi proprietary fast charge protocol require a BMS handshake that some replacement cells don't complete until after the first full charge cycle at standard rate. Charge the phone fully at slow speed, then disconnect and reconnect the charger — the fast charge negotiation typically completes correctly from the second cycle onward. If it still shows slow charge, check that the cable supports the required current rating (at least 3A).
The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery area while charging the new BN5F — is that a fault?
A new Li-Polymer cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates more heat during the first few cycles as it pushes current into a stiffer cell. Surface warmth during charging is expected and will reduce after three to five full cycles as impedance settles. If the phone becomes hot to the touch (above roughly 45°C) or triggers a thermal warning on-screen, stop charging and inspect the battery connector seating — a partially seated connector raises contact resistance and amplifies heat.
