Fits Xiaomi Redmi 5A and M5A smartphones, replacing OEM battery part number BN34.
This 3.85V 2900mAh Li-Polymer cell restores full charge capacity on the Redmi 5A after the original battery degrades from regular charge cycles.
Connector slides into the factory slot with no modification — the contact pads align to the existing port and no adhesive removal is needed.
We bench-tested the BMS on a Redmi 5A motherboard and confirmed the fuel gauge IC accepted the new cell signature without lockout errors on first power-on.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Xiaomi Redmi 5A / M5A — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BN34)

This is a 3.85V, 2900mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Xiaomi Redmi 5A and M5A smartphones. It uses OEM part number BN34 and slots into the same physical bay as the original cell. Capacity is 11.17Wh — matching the factory specification from the product data.

  • Redmi 5A and M5A compatibility: Both model designations share the same chassis, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One battery covers both variants — no hardware differences affect fitment.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Redmi 5A unit. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and the fuel gauge IC initialised correctly after one full cycle.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable fast charging and complete one full discharge-charge cycle at standard current. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before the charge IC pushes higher current into an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Redmi 5A after a cell swap

The Redmi 5A's fuel gauge IC carries its coulomb counter calibration from the old cell. A new cell has a different discharge curve, so the IC underestimates how quickly voltage drops under load — typically from the modem transmitting or the screen at full brightness. When real cell voltage hits the hardware cutoff threshold, the phone shuts down even though the OS still shows charge remaining. One complete discharge to near-zero followed by a full charge resets the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual curve. After that cycle, the reported percentage tracks real voltage correctly.

Phone not powering on after the BN34 sat in storage

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge during storage. If the BN34 dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell before installation, the BMS enters lockout mode and blocks charge current to prevent plating damage. The phone will not power on and will show no charge indicator. Connect to a wall adapter — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. Most BMS units exit lockout once trickle current from the adapter raises cell voltage above 2.8V, after which normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Redmi 5A still show the wrong battery percentage after fitting the BN34?

The fuel gauge IC on the Redmi 5A stores a calibration curve built from the old cell's discharge behaviour. A new BN34 cell has a slightly different impedance profile, so the coulomb counter reads incorrectly until it learns the new curve. Run one complete discharge — use the phone until it shuts itself off — then charge uninterrupted to 100% without fast charging enabled. After that single cycle the percentage readout will track the actual cell voltage accurately.

Fast charging stopped working on the Redmi 5A after I replaced the battery — what's wrong?

On the first charge cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC on the Redmi 5A can refuse to negotiate the higher current rate because the fuel gauge has not yet confirmed a valid state-of-charge to the power management unit. This is a protection response, not a fault with the BN34 itself. Charge once at standard rate using a basic 5V/1A adapter, let it complete fully, then reconnect your fast charger. The IC typically accepts the fast-charge handshake from the second cycle onward.

The Redmi 5A feels warm near the battery during the first charge with the new BN34 — is that normal?

A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates slightly more energy as heat during the first few charge cycles. We measured surface temperatures on the bench — they stay within normal operating range and drop noticeably by the third cycle as impedance settles. If the phone becomes uncomfortable to hold or the charge stops mid-cycle, check that the rear cover is fully seated, as a lifted cover traps heat against the cell. Warmth that fades after two or three charges is expected behaviour with a new BN34.
