Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Asus V2 / V2S / V2Je Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (A32-V2)
This is an 11.1V 4400mAh (48.84Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Asus V2, V2S, V2Je, and V2J notebooks. It replaces OEM part numbers A32-V2, 90-NL51B1000, and 70-NL51B1000M. Fits the original battery bay with no modification to the chassis or connector.
- V2 series compatibility: The V2, V2S, V2Je, and V2J share the same battery bay dimensions, three-cell connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — all four models draw from the same 11.1V rail and accept this cell without adapter or firmware patch.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a V2J unit and monitored the BMS communication. The protection circuit engaged correctly at low-voltage cutoff, and the charge controller accepted a full charge without flagging an error state.
- First-install discharge cycle: After fitting this cell, run the laptop on battery until it hibernates at low-charge cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after swapping cells.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
The Asus V2 BIOS stores battery health data in EEPROM tied to the original cell's charge history. When a new cell is installed, that stored data does not match the fresh cell's state, so the BIOS flags health as poor or unknown straight away. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% triggers the BIOS battery learn cycle and overwrites the stale EEPROM data. After two to three complete cycles the reported health percentage normalises.
Laptop shuts down abruptly while the charge indicator still shows 20–30%
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The gauge is still reading from the old cell's profile, so it misreports remaining capacity by a wide margin. Under combined CPU and display load, voltage drops faster than the gauge anticipates and the battery hits its hardware cutoff before the OS can warn you. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and recharge cycles without interruption — by the third cycle the fuel gauge IC recalibrates and the reported percentage aligns with actual cell voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Asus V2 BIOS shows "0% available (plugged in, not charging)" right after I installed the new battery — is the cell dead?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The BIOS on the V2 series stores charge-state data from the previous cell in EEPROM, and when it reads a fresh cell it sometimes locks the charge controller until the learn cycle runs. Unplug the AC adapter, let the laptop run down to hibernate cutoff on battery alone, then plug back in and charge to 100% without interrupting it. Check the battery status again after that full cycle — the BIOS should release the charge lock and report correctly.
Windows is showing a completely different Wh rating for this battery than what's printed on the original — which number is right?
The Wh figure Windows displays pulls from EEPROM data embedded in the battery's BMS, which reflects the cell chemistry rating at manufacture. The replacement cell is rated 48.84Wh; if Windows shows a different number in the first cycle or two, it is reading cached data from the old cell's profile rather than the new cell's actual capacity. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate then a full uninterrupted recharge. After that cycle, Windows should query the BMS directly and report a figure close to 48.84Wh.
My Asus V2 battery percentage jumps around wildly — goes from 60% to 15% in minutes with no heavy load — what's causing that?
The fuel gauge IC on the V2 mainboard calibrates its voltage-to-percentage curve against cycle history from the old cell. With a new cell installed, the IC is mapping the wrong curve, so percentage readings swing unpredictably until it recalibrates. This is not a cell fault — it corrects itself through use. Run two complete discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by full uninterrupted charges; by the third cycle the fuel gauge IC will have built an accurate curve against the new cell and the percentage will track steadily.
