Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Asus Eee PC S101H Series — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AP21-1002HA)
This is a 7.4V, 4200mAh (31.08Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the Asus Eee PC S101H and 1002HA netbook line. It replaces OEM part AP21-1002HA directly. The flat Li-Polymer cell pack fits the shallow battery bay these compact netbooks use.
- Eee PC 1002 and S101H fitment: These models share the same 7.4V two-cell Li-Polymer configuration, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS communication protocol over the SMBus line. A battery built for one works in all variants listed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an Eee PC 1002HA. The BMS handshake completed without error, charge acceptance reached full capacity, and the SMBus data reported correct voltage and state of charge to the OS fuel gauge.
- First-cycle discharge routine on the Eee PC: After installing, let the netbook run on battery until it hibernates at cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell data and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting poor battery health after fitting the AP21-1002HA
The Eee PC reads health data stored in the battery's EEPROM and compares it against learned cycle data from the previous cell. A new cell has a clean EEPROM, so the BIOS flags a mismatch as poor health immediately after swap. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Running one complete discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge resets the learn cycle and clears the warning. After two to three full cycles the BIOS health indicator stabilises.
Eee PC shutting down at 20–30% charge remaining
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated its capacity estimate against the new cell's actual chemistry. The old cell's discharge curve data is still cached, so the percentage reading drifts early and the netbook hits the low-voltage shutdown threshold before the display reaches zero. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles with the screen at normal brightness to force the IC to map the new voltage cliff. After calibration the shutdowns stop and the gauge reads correctly down to the cutoff voltage near 6.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Windows show the Eee PC battery as 0% or "plugged in, not charging" right after fitting the new cell?
The fuel gauge IC carries over capacity data from the old cell and briefly loses its reference point against the new chemistry. The "not charging" state usually means the BIOS is in a brief re-initialisation hold — unplug the adapter, leave it for 30 seconds, then reconnect. If the 0% reading persists through a full charge cycle, run a complete discharge to hibernate-cutoff and charge uninterrupted to 100% to force the IC to reset.
The Eee PC shows a different Wh rating in system info than the 31.08Wh printed on the battery — is it faulty?
No. The Wh figure shown in Windows or a battery utility is calculated live from the voltage and state of charge reported over SMBus, and it differs from the rated label value until the fuel gauge IC has completed at least one full calibration cycle. The EEPROM on the new cell holds the rated chemistry data, but the OS display reflects real-time measured values. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate then charge to 100% and the reported Wh will converge to the correct figure.
My Eee PC S101H charges fine but cuts out under load — keyboard backlight dims, then the unit shuts off hard.
That pattern is a voltage sag event. Under simultaneous CPU, display, and Wi-Fi load the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge tracks, and the BMS triggers a hard cutoff to protect the cells before the gauge registers empty. It happens most often on an un-calibrated new cell or a cell that has been stored discharged. Charge to 100%, then reproduce the load — if it still cuts out, check the adapter is delivering a stable 9.5V to 10V at the connector before suspecting the cell itself.
