Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Chicony Dell Inspiron 1500 — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (DR202)
This is a 10.8V, 6600mAh (71.28Wh) Li-ion battery for the Dell Inspiron 1500 notebook. It replaces part numbers DR202, EMC36, ME202BB, NL2020, and SMP02. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the laptop only runs on AC power.
- Dell Inspiron 1500 compatibility: The Inspiron 1500 uses a specific three-cell bay with a 10.8V nominal rail and a proprietary SMBus connector. This cell matches that voltage, connector pinout, and BMS handshake — the BIOS recognises it without a workaround.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge and discharge cycle on an Inspiron 1500 chassis. The BMS reported state-of-charge correctly and did not trigger an unrecognised-battery warning during the session.
- First-cycle calibration on Dell hardware: After fitting this cell, run the laptop on battery until it hibernates at low voltage cutoff, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. This single full-discharge cycle resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor after installing a new cell
The Inspiron 1500 BIOS reads health data from EEPROM embedded in the battery circuit. When a new cell goes in, the EEPROM data does not match the aged-cell profile the BIOS has stored, so it flags the battery as degraded even though the cell is fresh. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. One full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% runs the learn cycle and updates the stored profile. After that cycle, the BIOS health status typically returns to normal.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The IC is still using the old cell's discharge profile, so it misreads remaining capacity and calls a shutdown well before the cell is empty. The fix is two to three full discharge-and-charge cycles — not partial top-ups. After calibration cycles, the reported percentage and actual cutoff voltage align, and the laptop runs down to the correct low-battery threshold before shutting off.

Frequently Asked Questions
Dell Inspiron 1500 is showing the new battery as "unknown" or 0% in Windows — what's happening?
The Windows fuel gauge IC pulls capacity data from the battery's EEPROM, and on a fresh cell that data hasn't been written against actual discharge behaviour yet. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single cycle writes calibrated data to the fuel gauge and clears the unknown or 0% reading. If it persists after two cycles, check Device Manager for a driver conflict on the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery entry.
System info in Windows shows the wrong Wh rating for this battery — is the cell faulty?
No — this is an EEPROM data mismatch, not a cell fault. The EEPROM on the replacement cell stores a rated Wh value based on the cell chemistry specification, and Windows reads that figure directly. The actual delivered energy may differ slightly from the EEPROM value until the fuel gauge IC runs calibration cycles against real-world discharge. After two to three full discharge-and-charge cycles, the reported Wh figure stabilises to reflect the actual cell capacity.
New battery stopped charging at 80% and won't go higher — is it defective?
This is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a battery fault. Dell laptops running certain BIOS versions or Dell Power Manager software activate a 80% charge threshold to reduce cell stress during AC-connected use. Check Dell Power Manager under the Battery section and set the charge mode to "Primarily AC" or disable the custom charge threshold. Once that setting is cleared, the battery charges to 100V without issue.
